My dad was a resident there and they took very good care of him. If you wait around for a few minutes after having a concern they remedy the situation. All nursing homes have been having a shortage of CNA's. They don't get paid enough anywhere, but they work hard at their jobs and they love the residents like their own family members. In this POST-Covid world we live in, it is hopeful to see the CNA's, nurses, social workers, and Nurse Practitioners seeing the people in a timely manner. I am thankful for how my dad was treated at Cumberland Village.

I wouldn’t send anyone you love here. My aunt recently was placed in their memory care ward and it is a disgrace. This part of the building is run down, smells, and needs a LOT of work. The rooms are lack luster and aren’t cleaned properly. My mom and other aunt pulled out the nightstand to look for some of my aunt’s belongings and it was filthy! Dead bugs and dirt! This place has a horrible track record of keeping up with patients belongings. We were able to go see my aunt after Covid lockdown and most of her clothes, shoes, etc were missing! Not to mention she had also lost her glasses. These issues have been brought up to multiple people at this facility and it’s now been a few weeks and they haven’t even attempted to look for my aunts clothes/glasses. RIDICULOUS! Let’s not forget to mention the slop they serve. We happened to be there one day at lunchtime (which mind you was well after 1pm) and what they served wasn’t anything like I had seen before. My aunt had a sandwich that we weren’t sure what was on it, tater tots, ice cream, chocolate milk, and cold coffee. This place seriously needs to shape up! It’s pathetic that you don’t take better care of your patients and THEIR belongings! SHAME ON YOU ALL!!

The front of the facility isn't so bad but the further you go toward where most people doesn't see it is a disgrace. The smell is horrid , the residents living conditions are totally unacceptable. Filth is the best way I can describe the lock down unit. Everything is blamed on house keeping, but I ask who is over the departments? It is administration. All that I witnessed was the residents walking up and down the halls without much interaction with the staff. The nurse's always seemed too busy to deal with anyone or anything. They did not report off to each other appropriately. My aunt went and ask where our loved one was, and the nurse told her they didn't have a patient by that name. This was on his 4th day there. The aids however tried very hard to take care of my husbands needs and to answer questions. I was so disappointed with the care and attention received there. My recommendation is to never put a human being in this place. Someone who cares about people need to take this place over and clean it up and demand better from their employees (House Keeping). If you cannot provide anything for a patient, you can provide them with a clean environment.

I feel the residents could be given better care than some receive. I have a friend in there that had surgery at UT Hospital for bowel problems. He came from UT with a foley catheter and to this date still has the foley. No one seems to know why. I feel it should be removed and see if he could urinate on his own. If he is unable to then replace the foley. He was also moved to Gero-Psych, why no one knows. I feel the rooms are dirty and poorly kept. i would love to see this place come under surprise inspections by the state. Much improvements are needed immediately.

My father is a resident and he is terminal. They do not have phones in the room and my dad does not have a cell phone. I live out of state and want to be able to speak to my dad but on numerous occasions I have called and was told that he was resting or that they had just given him his meds. I was also told they would have him call me by numerous employees and have yet to hear from my dad in about three or more weeks. I think that it is absolutely wrong and unacceptable to be kept from speaking with my dad. I don't know where the ball is getting dropped but it is a ridiculous mess. On one occasion I had to call the number 15 times to get someone to answer the phone just to be placed on hold and the call got disconnected. So I called back with no exaggeration another 10 times before an employee answered and let me know they would have my father call back. I would not recommend this place to anyone who is not able to go to the facility and check on things for themselves or wants to be able to speak with a loved one that does not have a cell phone!!!

My Mother in Law was there for about 3 weeks for rehab. The room always had a smell. Maintenance was poor. The nursing assistants walk the hallways which is good, but when a patient rings for one of them, they are slow to respond even when they aren't with anyone. This could be managed a lot better. As for the Rehab, It's a joke. When someone is there for strictly rehab I think it should be more than 20 or 30 minutes a day and by all means more than a couple times per week if the patient is to ever have a chance of leaving this place. Must be a money thing. Last but certainly not least the place is extremely LOUD!!! Come on employees, these people need their rest and sleep. The least you could do is close their doors and still look in on them. How much does it take to open a door? I gave it 3 stars, but that was kind.

My mother has been in Cumberland Village for two years now. I chose this because I can go there everyday. The people are familiar and so far, they have been extremely good with my mom. She's by herself in a room and she has a dresser, a TV. It is also right by the nurses station. With regards to the staff, the ones that are working with Mom are very good. They're very conscientious. The nursing staff is very good. They work with you, e.g., if you have a problem, they take care of it. Their social services are wonderful too. Mom is in an advance stage of Alzheimer's, so when she's cognitive and awake enough, they give her solid food. When she's not, they give her pureed. They also give her Ensure in between times because we're trying to get her weight back up. So they are very helpful about trying to do that.
