We chose McKendree Village because they have assisted living, nursing care, and memory care all on the same property, and it's close to my house. The place is great, and the staff members are very kind and helpful. My parents got a two-bedroom apartment, and they're very pleased with it. It's our top choice.

My in-laws are at Mckendree Village. I think it's wonderful and it's one of the lowest priced communities that we found. It's one of the few places we could find where my in-laws could live together. They have everything on-site. They have a doctor's office, a movie theater, a game room, two swimming pools, two workout areas, a barbershop, and a beauty shop. Everything is there onsite. They have a studio, a studio deluxe, a 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom available. The pricing is very reasonable.

McKendree Village exceeded our expectation. It’s on a 47 acre campus. They have about 200 independent residents in a 19 story tower. They have all kinds of activities; you can do two or three things. They have game rooms, coffee, and newspaper. Every week they take them to a local restaurant in Nashville and dine if you want to sign up for it. Their dining is open from 7AM to 8PM continuous with very extensive venue for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can go eat lunch at 3 in the afternoon. The people were friendly, there were people doing activities, we saw a sewing room, computer rooms with computers and printers. The coffee is free in the coffee room. They have medical people because they do have a skilled nursing on site, and there is a huge church on site and 7 acre woods for walking around. They have two to three things in the afternoon.

My daughter and I visited and took a tour. The apartments in both buildings, one being for independent living and the other assisted living are really nice and quite large. More than one resident spoke to us and said they love living at McKendree. The pool was great as was the other options like the art studio, coffee shop and general store. I believe this may just be my next home.

We just moved into McKendree Village. We chose this place because they have cottages that you can get into. You can rent cottages instead of going into a high-rise. Our house here is big. We have two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. It is about 1800 square feet. It is for me and my husband and our two dogs. We have the full kitchen and we also have a meal allowance that we can use each month. McKendree Village's dining area is cafeteria style for breakfast and lunch and sit-down for dinner. We tried their food before we went and it tasted fine. I think this community is excellent. The neighbors are nice. The maintenance crew is there if you need their help. They have a move-in coordinator that will be working with us for as long we want. They do have recreational activities. They have exercise classes available and Bible study classes. They have all sorts of things. I went a few weeks ago and saw an Elvis impersonator. The other night before we moved in, they were having outside movie.

McKendree Village was near my brother's house, so we opted to have our mother checked in there. The staff were doing a good job with the residents. Although, one of the nurse practitioners in the facility doesn't listen to what I would suggest. Other than that, I had no problem at all.

We went to McKendree and I wouldn't even take my dog back to those folks. My mother was there for a little while before she had brain surgery and then she went back. They just didn't treat her well. They tried to pick her up where the incision was and tried to pull her by her neck to sit her up. The place is old and not taken care of. As for the food, they would grind it up but we asked them to stop doing that because my mom could eat regular food; but they kept at it. They were just horrible.

When we toured this facility, I noticed that the staff were all working very hard to make sure that we were taken care of and answered any questions that we had. I spoke with several patients and they each said that they did enjoy being here. One older gentleman even told me that he liked being there because he thought the nurses were pretty to look at, and even enjoyed looking at a couple of the other female patients! It seems like a really nice place.
