My father was a admitted on October 21st. He is 75 years of age and he has had Type 1 Diabetes for the majority of his life. He has done a fabulous job taking care of himself. His A1c has rarely been over 7.2. We have been in yhe room with my dad on several times when the nurses have asked the family how many units of insulin to give him. This is not our job. My husband and I went out of town and received a phone call on Saturday. My father was incoherent. My 2 aunts and cousin were with him and I asked to speak to a nurse. It took 25 minutes to find a nurse and I asked him to do a urine screen (which he told me would not be back for 48 hours), then I asked for a check on his blood sugar. There monitor couldn’t measure it because it was too high. I told them to send him to the ER. I also requested to speak with the physician that makes rounds. She called and told me the hospital had ordered 3 units of insulin for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She also told me I was looking for someone to blame. I have not been able to get in touch with her or Mr. Clark, who supervises the facility. Now, my father has been hospitalized. We have seen and been asked by nurses how much insulin to give my father. This is not our job.

My aunt moved into The Waters of Bristol. We have been able to get in touch with the nursing manager, the head therapist, and the discharge planner. Any time we need to, they've been responsive. They are excellent at sending out notifications and voice messages when there is any change in the visitation due to COVID. We've been very happy with their handling of COVID, how careful they are about screening people who come into the building, making changes when necessary, and then notifying all the interested parties. They are very caring, kind, and professional when doing their work. They do a good job. They have common areas, outside areas, and a nice dining room.
