My aunt is now in Sunnycrest Retirement Village. It has similar people with similar issues, but it's an apartment for retired folks. They have activities and buses to the grocery stores and other places. They have activities in different areas, they have mahjong, different kinds of puzzles, bowling, and church services. Their food is brought on from Meals on Wheels. The rooms are provided with a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. My aunt is at the new tower that's part of the complex, and they have different levels of apartments that you can pick from. They adjust them according to your income. They have a lot of different courtyards.

Sunnycrest Retirement Village was a nice facility. The rooms were adequate in size and they had a lot of areas where people could congregate and visit separate from their rooms. They have a nice dining area, and the grounds outside were very nice. They had seating areas outside and also had a garden that people could work in. It was very nice. Every other Tuesday, they take people to the grocery store. Every other Wednesday, they take them out to other areas in Sioux Falls for shopping and stuff like that. They also do birthday parties. They have a chapel and they do that every Wednesday morning. They have different denominations come and have services there. They have an activity room where they do physical activities for people to get exercise and stuff like that. They also had a really large screen TV where they showed movies. I know they had the Meals on Wheels Monday through Friday for the residents there. Other than that, I think it was basically just on their own as far as other meals. I only got to meet the one gal that gave me the tour, and a couple of other people, but it was basically just an introduction type thing.

I'm going into a brand-new apartment in Sunnycrest Retirement Village. They just built a new building. They are quite large. I think there's five or six different buildings. Some are ground level and some are high-rises, just about three stories. Compared to a lot of places, their prices are reasonable. It's about close to $1,000 a month for a one-bedroom, but it already has a washer-dryer in the apartment and a walk-in shower, which are two things that I wanted. Being in the new building was just kind of exciting, too. The residents, employees, and everyone I talked to during my tour were very friendly. They serve one meal a day (the noon meal) and since we have a full kitchen in the apartment, that wouldn't be a problem. They actually have a large room they use for other activities. While I was there, they were having a music program in there, and a lot of people were there.

Sunnycrest Retirement Village is a pretty decent place to live all in, but I live on the back side of the building. I have construction going on in my backyard because they're putting up a new building. Today is Saturday, and they're putting up workers out there and that annoys me. The staff are pretty good; they take care of us. We cook our own meals. They do a good job on the upkeep. It's a good place to live. It's just I'm tired of being here. With the pandemic, it's kind of tight. They play bingo. They do other things. They have concerts and church services, and all that good kind of stuff. I pay $650, so it's worth it. It's good. It's just I'm bored, and I want to be out of here. It is all good, but I just want out of here. The only problem I have is that I used to be able to park 100 feet out my bedroom window, but now they've got new garages that are closed down. So I have to park out in the main parking lot, and it's near a quarter of a mile from where my apartment is. It is a pain.

I'm in Sunnycrest Retirement Village. It's independent living so they don't serve meals or anything like that. The staff was good. I have a 2-bedroom and I keep it clean myself. It's independent living so I take care of my own apartment but they also have 4 or 5 maintenance people that live here. They respond within 24 hours. They have an exercise area but it's very limited. It has that equipment with a pedal and that's all there is. The outdoors has a little park area and that's all. There are no activities out here, at least not much that attracts me. I'm an ex-military and I have a friend here that's ex-military too so we have our own social group that we formed on our own since most people don't understand our jargon.

We chose Sunnycrest Retirement Village because of the amenities, the rent, and the lease. I have met with them once in person and have talked to them a couple of times on the phone. My parents have not moved in yet, but this place seems like it would be a good fit for them. The staff is very helpful, and they seemed really great. It has the potential to be homey and it is clean. It looked like a good community. There's staff there 24/7, the rent is cheap, and it is a month-to-month lease, so you are not stuck into anything.
