I went to look at Sumter Grove Senior Living. The facility looked very clean. It's an attractive building. I saw people sitting out on the porch in rocking chairs, and they were smiling and very pleasant. I actually had one of the caregivers there come up to me and engage me in a conversation. She was enthusiastic about the facility, and about the people that she took care of. I have an idea of the menus and things like that. Going down the hallways, the rooms were set up. It reminded me of a village versus an apartment thing, or anything like that. My impression was that it was like I was getting street addresses for each of the rooms. They had open areas along the way where they had chairs and benches. The room I saw was a studio room. It had quite a bit of space in it. They had a little counter. The rooms were spotless. There was good closet space, which is important when you're leaving a full house and want a place to put things that you really want to keep. I think I saw a microwave and a small refrigerator. The bathrooms were spotless. They were very wheelchair- or walker accessible. They showed me the dining room and where they can have group meetings. I saw a group of people getting together to play bingo. They had a very accessible type of nursing station. The people working there were very friendly. The people who lived there would stop by and chat with them for a few minutes, so that led me to feel that they were comfortable with these people. The staff knows their people. They had an outside area where they could smoke. They have transportation to and from doctors' appointments in town. They take the residents to special events. The whole place gave me a good feeling. It was a wonderful experience. They had some area out in the back if they wanted to take their walkers. They had nice landscaping. I did not see or hear anything that set up any flags.

My dad was at Morningside of Sumter, and it was a wonderful place. I wanted to put him back, but they didn't have anything available at that time. They offered bingo, they had transportation to take the residents shopping, and they did that once a week. They had the transportation to take them to any doctors' appointment, they arranged for visits out to like Swan Lake, they had a movie night, they did socialization in a room where all of the residents would get together and socialize, and they played board games and card games. They were very personable. I just can't say enough good things about the staff there. During Easter, they invited the whole family to come in, they made a big Easter dinner for the family members and the residents there. It was a very family-oriented facility.

Morningside of Sumter was a fairly big area, and everything was good there. The eating area was nice, and they had a lot of security. The staff during the tour was very good, very knowledgeable, and showed us all around the place. They had weight rooms, exercise rooms, and tours.

The staff at Morningside of Sumter is very courteous and caring. There are a lot of activities for the residents. Mom has a very nice room located near the courtyard that is handicap-accessible ad clean. Everything is done well.

Morningside is very warm and has welcoming and caring people. The staff has longevity as there’s not a lot of turnover. They have exercise, bingo, shopping, outside events, crafts, music, devotion, a library, garden, and courtyard. My mother feels better.

My sister has been in Morningside for five years now. She's doing well and she likes it there. She's getting beyond assisted care. Everything has been very nice.

This place was very clean. The woman who worked at the desk wasn't too friendly, but she could have been having a bad day. The residents seemed content to be there as well. The rooms were nice, and the staff genuinely seemed to care for the residents. I might be wrong, but it seemed like there was transportation available for the elderly maybe for senior trips? The location was not hard to get to at all, and was very convenient. The food for the residents seemed to be cooked well, and if people needed help eating, it would be provided for them. There seemed to be good activities for the elders to participate in, and the outdoors were kept good looking. Morningside looks like a place safe, fun, and quite for older people who need help living and their families are either unwilling or unable to help them. I would recommend it to others.

Overall experience was good. Very clean facilities. Some staff members seemed to care more about their jobs than others. But they are very patient with the residents. The food and activities changed every week. Morningside always seemed to keep the residents involved when coming up with an activities schedule. The residents were able to choose from movies, park, shopping, museums etc. On the weeks a local organization would come out to spend some time with the elders. The food tasted fresh every day. There never seemed to be a dull moment for the elders are Morningside of Sumter. I have had three family members and two family friends stay at Morningside and they always seemed to have positive things to say about the staff food and activities.
