I toured Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill. The rent is a little higher than what I had budgeted for. I'm going to talk to sales and see what kind of deals they have and what we can do about lowering the rent a little bit. The staff member during the tour was very informative. What she showed me I think will work out. They have a barbershop, an exercise room, and a courtyard. It's in close proximity to a hospital I attend. The bedroom size was acceptable. I'm going to go with this place if we can work out the price.

We really had a good experience at Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill, so we are possibly looking into that one. From my dad's perspective, he said that he really felt that it was inviting and that there was a sense of camaraderie. There was a lot of people spending time in the facility, and they seemed very comfortable. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We didn't see anything real negative.
The building is a little old because it has been around for so long, but that's really not a negative. The admission coordinator was fantastic. They offer everything that we possibly need just to maintain regular day-to-day living. Also, they're pet friendly, which is a huge plus for us. They have a salon. They have space for activities like exercise activities. It's just a big space in the front of the building.
They offer three meals a day. They also have an extra menu that you're allowed to pick from, if you don't like what they're serving. They have a fully functioning little kitchens, even in their studio apartments, which I thought was really impressive. You can bring a microwave and things like that, so I thought that was really nice.

My dad is at the Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill. The place is extremely clean. The rooms are very nice and very quaint. They have been updated. Everyone has been really accommodating and has gone out of their way to do everything they can for him. They have movie nights, bingo, church gatherings, and things like that. The food is upscale. It's restaurant style.

Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill was awesome. It's a really nice, beautiful place. I really liked how the family could come in to have lunch, and nothing had to be scheduled. The facility was clean. I would really consider my mom living there. I was really, really happy with what we saw, and the people were really nice. The staff was fabulous.
One of the things that I was really impressed with was the menu. It was a big selling point because my mom's very picky. They have salmon, salad, and soup on top of a regular menu. I can go in there and have lunch with my mom at any time. I just walk in and pay $5. I will say that was really impressive. The food looked great.
They showed me the assisted living and memory care, and I was impressed with both. I'm just starting out touring facilities for my mom. So far, that facility is my top place. It was beautiful inside. You came in and you have the bar. It was set up so nice. They were doing a really nice job. They made it feel like a home. I feel like I could walk in there any time and have coffee with my mom. When mom walked in there, it was like she was seeing friends. It didn't feel like she was going into an assisted living place where everyone was in a wheelchair and disabled. I found that really comforting. Everyone was out in the open. It was just nice.

My father moved into Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill. He's doing good and adjusting well. It's all about the staff there. The moment I walked in, the front desk was so helpful, and the marketing person helped me so much because I had never done anything like this before. I didn't know where to start, how to begin, any of it. She walked me through it and it was a seamless process. He was having some snags at the hospital and she helped me with that as well.
His room is always clean. I've never been in there, not one time, that it's been messy. There's always someone there cleaning or sweeping, making sure that it stays clean. From the time I chose the facility, I was kind of in and out to get the paperwork done and move my dad's things into his room. They allowed us to move his things into his room before he got there. I had a bed that I bought for my dad that I needed to put together and I couldn't do it. I thought I was gonna have to bring someone else to come and do it. That next day, their maintenance man had already started putting it together. We didn't have to ask. They hung up pictures.
His room is a good size. He has a studio deluxe. He has his own bathroom. My dad is claustrophobic and I knew he wasn't going to be able to stay in a small room, but it's very spacious. You could have a view of the courtyard and I think he has a view of the front lawn. All of their views are great. If you have somebody that just likes to look out of the window, they have great views for that. They allow pets. My dad has a dog, but if it's 25 pounds or over, they can just come and visit. If it's 25 pounds and under, they can stay.
The yard is always manicured. The grass is always cut. They have flowers, landscapes and things like that. The dining room is clean. I'm very pleased. It's more of a restaurant setting, but it's an open space. In one space, there are some couches and chairs where you can kind of sit and watch a little TV. In the other space are the eating tables that they can sit in and eat. I was there when he had a meal and it smelled great and looked great. He loved it. He's not a picky eater, but everybody around him was eating well. If you want more, then you have more. They have a menu.
They have a list of daily activities. I think they're still trying to follow COVID protocols, so they haven't been outside of the community, but they have activities there at the center. He has participated and I didn't think he was a very social person, but they do a good job with getting them involved. If they don't want to, then they don't push them. They encourage them very well to come and sit out and do little activities. They don't feel like they're pressured to do it. It seems to be a very nice community. I love it. They made us feel so comfortable there. I haven't had one bad experience since he's been there.

Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill is very nice. The rooms here are just big enough for a single person; they are like a small apartment. The food is OK. The administration has been very nice too. The maintenance is good. They keep it pretty clean and they have activities. The only one that I've been involved in so far was Bible study. Overall, it's not a bad place.

Do NOT put your loved one at this facility. This is the worst place I have ever seen. In the assisted living 2 unit, the rooms are a decent size but they are not kept clean. The place smelled of urine all the time. The laundry rarely was done and my mother ended up with most of her clothes missing and had other people's clothes in her closet. Once the place opened back up from Covid, I started doing mom's laundry myself which I shouldn't have had to do since this service is included in the price of the room. They lost one of her prescriptions and gave her too much of another prescription which made her short on that one. Luckily, it didn't harm her when she was given too much. She fell not long after she got there and when she returned, she had a wheelchair that came with her from rehab. The facility lost the wheelchair and had to pay for it. There were numerous items from her room (comforter set, set of sheets, baby dolls, clothes, picture books we gave her for Christmas, among other things) that went missing from her room and were never seen again even though we were told that some of the items had been found, we never saw them. There were no activities going on in AL2, not even music playing. Basically, the TV was the only thing on and the residents just sat there. It was very sad. I will say that there were 3 ladies who worked over in the assisted living 2 and memory care units that were absolutely wonderful with mom. They were very loving and kind to her and I believe genuinely cared for mom. We also had some really great people from hospice who came in and helped with mom that were great as well.

My father stayed at Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill, and it was not good. It's chaotic. There were a lot of folks that were not too good. The food was good, and he ate it. His room was pretty small, but they did not clean it like they should. It smelled like urine all the time. He was supposed to go in to enhanced memory care, but there were some issues. He wasn't even there for a week. The maintenance guy was great, but cleanliness was a 2.

It is really good. It is really clean and everything. I have no problem by real professionals who do a really good job. It has a good sized room that is good and clean. They come up and take care of everything, and they are doing really well. The staff is doing a wonderful job too, and I have no complaints. They have all kind of activities and all kinds of stuff. They have Bingo, Backgammon, and Cornhole games. Someone comes in to do their nails once a week. My mother tells us the food is really good, and she likes it. The cleanliness and the way the staff does everything really quickly impressed me the most.

We just had an experience with it before with a family member and it has proven to be exactly what it said. We were pleased with the accommodation as well as the facility's cleanliness. The staff was very good and very knowledgeable there. I'm very satisfied with them.

My grandmother is here. Her room is not large, but it's big enough for her, and she likes it. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I love the fact there is a place that can tend to my mother-in-laws needs and give professional caring help. Lots of activities and staff is caring.
