Carolina Gardens at Kathwood needs to upgrade before they start showing again. The staff said that the facility had bugs and that they were exterminating them. The room that she showed me had an odor, and she said that they're under new management, and they'll be renovating. The prices are just as high as everybody else to not have the best facility, the rooms don't have appliances. They have a nice garden but the place is in need of a lot of repairs. The person who gave the tour was very apologetic, and she kept assuring me that the renovations would be done soon. But it's not somewhere I'm comfortable placing my relative.

We toured Carolina Gardens at Kathwood, and my mom loved it. It was probably her favorite. We had certain things that were more important to us than other things. One of them was my mom just wants to feel like she's going to feel like family with whoever she's there with and whoever is caring for her, and they immediately made us feel that way.
The rooms were really nice and well taken care of.
They have pets in a little courtyard that just really won my mom over, and I thought that was really cute.
I like the fact that they have one flat fee price. You don't have to worry about changing prices based on your level of care. It's one flat fee, no matter what level of care you have.
The staff was great, and she did a really good job of explaining everything to us and taking her time and not rushing us. She answered all of our questions very well and definitely put my mom at ease.

I have gone to Carolina Gardens at Kathwood. I like them. It was a little more spacious and I like the people. The people were really friendly. The staff who gave me the tour was really nice. The place is bigger and it has more one-bedroom apartments. It looked like it covered just about everything. They have a courtyard. It is definitely more homey.

Carolina Gardens at Kathwood is nice and adequate, and the staff is friendly. There is a common dining room on each floor, and the rooms are set up like apartments. I like the setup of the place because it is small and intimate, and I also like the location.

I already it for my aunt. Other places I inquired into wouldn’t take her, and someone who worked there recommended that place. So far, it’s excellent. I haven’t found any fault with it. It’s a really nice place. Her apartment is in very good condition. She’s using her own furniture. The last time I was there, she just looked so good. She looked healthy. She was having some problems with her leg, it turned dark, but that is clearing up now. I am really impressed with the leg and the way she looks. She’s really getting good care. She seems to be eating better than she was in rehab. I know she participates in some activities.

The facility is a very nice place. There are apartments that people who need less help can live in, and the ones that need more help live inside of the main building. The staff is nice, and explains what type of resident is housed in every section of the facility when you walk in. Some of the rooms were small, in my opinion, for people in wheelchairs to maneuver comfortably around in. The staffs is very attentive to the residents, and are also really nice to them. They make it seem more like home because they take the time to get to know the residents on a more personal level than just by their last name and room number. I also like how they allow the volunteers to interact with the residents instead of just putting us to work the entire time we are there. I would recommend this facility to people that are looking for assisted living facilities.

The facility was nice looking. On one half, residents who needed less care could live in their own small apartments. The apartments were on three levels, and they consisted of one bedroom and bathroom, a small living area, and a kitchenette. This provided a way to live in the facility but still maintain one's independence. The other half of the facility was more of a nursing home set up. There were both single and double occupancy rooms. The rooms were small, and in the double rooms, a curtain separated the halves. There was a TV in each room, but this was not very convenient in the double rooms. The TV was set u either in a way where the curtain also divided the TV into two, or one half of the room could not see the screen at all. The staff was not very friendly, although there were a few nurses who would be an exception and who would always go out of their way to help us or to make patients more comfortable. The facility had sitting areas for residents to gather in. It was one of the larger facilities that I have seen.
