We went to The Palms of Mt. Pleasant. The outdoor area and the garden area were beautiful and welcoming. They had lots of activities for their residents. It would be a great place for more of an assisted living type resident. We looked for the assisted living. There's a waiting list at this point. The staff who gave me the tour was very pleasant and very knowledgeable, and she gave lots of information to help me decide where a good place would be for my mom is. They had an art room and an exercise room. The dining area was like a restaurant.

My parents used to live in The Palms of Mt. Pleasant, and they did a great job. The staff was great. The food was good. They can go to the dining room. My parents loved the food there, and they were happy. They offered a lot of activities. However my parents did not really participate in a lot of the activities, and they kept to themselves. They were in the process of doing renovations, but it was clean and kept up, it was just an old building. It was what we were looking for. It was close to us. My parents were very happy there. They loved it, and it has all the amenities they needed.

I am a resident at The Palms, I probably waited a little longer than I should have to move in, but I am so thrilled I made the move. The staff and residents have treated me like family since day one. The food might be a little too good, according to my scales in the bathroom. Happy hour is filled with the most fun people you would ever want to meet. As a matter of fact, there are about 100 of us that enjoy happy hour together. I was lonely at home, but am kicking up my heals having a rip roaring good time at The Palms!
Sincerely,
Irma L.

I actually give it 2.5 stars. My mom was in assisted living here from 2012-2016 with dementia. My mom is covered by both part A and part B of Medicare, which allows for many types of on-going wellness therapies. I was unaware of this fact until I moved her to another facility: Savannah Place on James Island. I was so mad with The Palms that they did not provide my mom with her allowed therapies for 4 years!! They ordered her a walker, and it sat under the bed the whole time because they said "your mom doesn't think she needs it". Well duh, she has dementia! Most staff do not understand how dementia affects a person's responses, choices, etc. and should be trained better. The head nurse position changed 4 times while my mom was there. None of them had an active role in her care. The facility may have too many residents and not enough good staff.

This place is awful. My mom has been here for a little over a week and the majority of the staff seem interested and lazy. The don't do anything to help. They can't even bring food that she can eat even after being told that she needs soft food.

The place is pretty to look at from a far, but when you get up close it isn't as pretty. The food is bad. Things are served from veggies come from cans and plates are cold when they get to the table. The waitstaff come and go and they are often short handed. There has been a recent problem with theft and they are even changing the locks. I can't tell you how many times they have patched the roof and haven't fixed it.
It's an okay place to visit but not a nice place to call home.

I wasn’t impressed with the Palms of Mt. Pleasant because of the people. A couple of the residents were mad and unhappy, and I felt like they were more locked-in. They seemed like such a limited place. The rooms were fine. It was just that the hallway was an end hallway and didn’t go around so they could walk and feel like they were going somewhere. It felt like it was closed-in or that they were locked in, and I didn’t like that.

I liked the Palms of Mt. Pleasant, and the woman who took me around was very nice. It seemed like a nice, friendly place. It's older and could use a little refreshing, but other than that, I liked it the best for what they offered. They had studios and small one-bedrooms. The independent living people and assisted living people were not kept totally separate, so there was interaction, which is nicer because you get a more active feeling from the place. It also had an outdoor space.

Palms of Mt. Pleasant was nice, but the grounds were not as lush with shaded trees, and it was expensive. They had a library, and their activities were not as plentiful as another place. They had a two-story facility, and Dad is in a wheelchair, so they would not be able to accommodate him on the second floor. The dining area was nice, and the apartments were pretty spacious.

We visited The Palms. The staff was very accommodating, nice, and informative. The rooms and apartments were really what my dad was looking for. He visited and really thought that they were what he would like. The facility was very nice. The residents were very happy. We visited a couple of residents who seemed very happy in their rooms. It looked like residents were very involved with social life, too. They were always busy doing something or involved with a community program.

We have placed my sister in assisted living program at The Palms of Mt. Pleasant. She has been there for a couple of months now. So far, it has been very good. We have no complaints at this point. It has worked fine for my sister so far and we are very impressed with what we’re seeing. Right now, care has been very good. As far as we can tell, it has been excellent.

My mom moved into The Palms almost two months ago. It was really the cheapest place out of all the places in Mount Pleasant where she could stay. My mom was scared. However, this is the place that my uncle looked at and really liked, so my mom knows some of the people there already. She really liked the place a whole lot, and it was a perfect fit for her. She was getting ready to get out of rehab really fast, and a place opened just in time. Their food is delicious, and they have an excellent chef. I know she goes to bingo and the library, and they have movie nights.

The Palms was a very large community with studio apartments, one-bedrooms, and deluxe one-bedrooms which are a little larger in square footage. They included a cable television and a telephone, which we thought were a good things. If you wanted Internet service, they can add that. Independent living and assisted were on the same grounds as memory care. They had an indoor pool wherein they do pool exercises, which I thought was really unique. They have social hour on Friday evening where they do allow alcohol, and they play bingo, card games, and other social activities. Every evening, they have movies in a special room. They have a bus service to go to shopping and doctors' offices. They have book clubs and a library. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and has kept in contact with me by calling once a month, which is very nice. Everybody interacts with each other there. They will bring you around, introduce you to people ,and have you eat a meal with someone, so you get to know people, which I thought was very nice, too.

I thought The Palms was very good. I really liked it. The apartment that I saw was small. I found that it was a little pricey, but that did not bother me at the moment because I was looking for a place that I could feel at home and safe. They had a place for activities, and it looked like they had a lot of activities for their people. I ate a good lunch there. They had a library, a place for people to have their hair done, and a swimming pool. It was more upscale. From their menu, which had, like, French cuisine, you could order whatever you wanted, and they would fix it.

It is a place where they have both live in patients and recovering convalescent people. The food there was great. They had more activities than some. They have religious services and trips to stores and Wal-Mart. They can take you to the doctor's office if you have an appointment. They did have a bus. The staff was pretty nice. There were more nurses and doctors than people who make the bed.

I visited The Palms, and I thought it was very nice. The population is a little bit older. I think the average age there is closer to 85. It's independent, assisted, and then nursing home. We live here, so we are 5 minutes down the road. The dining room looks nice. The room that I looked at was a 1-bedroom, and I also looked at one of their houses on the premises. The house was nice. The apartments were not as nice. The kitchen was smaller. Everybody seems very friendly, and they look like they try to keep the residents busy. They had an indoor pool, a workout room, and book clubs. I think the grounds need to be maintained better. When I was there, the side of one of the buildings needed to be pressure-washed; it was getting green mildew growing on it. One of the walkways had a wooden bridge over a lake, but its paint was all peeling up, and it just looks like they need to give a little bit more attention. It looks tired. They just need to maintain the exterior of the property better.

I think everything was very nice at Palms of Mt. Pleasant. It looked like they’re a good place to me. I really like it because I think they have more things to offer. I like the fact that people could have more social activity there. The staff was all nice and accommodating. They were very good. They had two or three different options for the rooms; and the rooms were very nice.

My mother's experience in assisted living in this facility was largely terrible. My mother has difficulties with mobility. She has been left lay in wet undergarments, and on one occasion was told by a staff member to wet herself in bed because the staff member could not help her. On another occasion she was left alone sitting on a toilet for 30 minutes. Staff were extremely slow in responding to call buttons for help, particularly at at night.Staff at times has refused/neglected to help her shower on scheduled days (including for five days after one occasion of being left in wet undergarments). While some staff there were dedicated and caring, the incompetence, abuse and neglect of others far overshadowed the good staff's efforts. The air conditioner in her room did not work through the South Carolina summer, and nothing was done despite reporting the problem multiple times. My mother has finally agreed to come live with us. Both my wife and I work in the health care industry and have extensive experience with elder care facilities- this is some of the worst care we have ever seen. Our advice to the facility- staff it adequately and train and supervise your staff. our advice to anyone considering this facility for assisted living for your loved one: AVOID IT no matter how slick the sales pitch, which in our case proved far from truthful.

The Palms was beautiful and we loved it. They had wonderful people. They had an indoor pool. However, my mother needed more care. I would recommend them to people who could get around on their own more because it is a lovely facility.

I liked everything at The Palms of Mt. Pleasant. The rooms were fine. The people were very friendly and helpful. They made me feel good when I was there. They answered all my questions. The residence were also very nice and welcoming.

I have visited Savannah Grace at the Palms. It's very pretty, but I did not get the sense that the staff really cares, and it was a little institutional to me.

The dining room is outstanding. The lists of activities show good organization and thoughtfulness.
