About This Community

There may be no greater challenge in life than living with memory loss. At Mount Pleasant Gardens Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, our job is to help these individuals maintain a sense of dignity and purpose in life.

Set among a graceful setting of palmettos, laurel oaks and graceful willows, our community creates an environment of beauty, where residents are able to enjoy life safely and securely in a homelike atmosphere that exudes Southern charm.

More importantly, we treat residents like family and work to keep them engaged in life. Our Meaningful Moments® program is designed specifically to create moments of joy each and every day for those living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

This program, exclusive to JEA Senior Living, is built on learning all we can about our residents in order to make them feel comfortable and cared for. Our compassionate staff take the time to discover your loved one’s interests, desires, and life story to develop a personalized care plan the meets their specific aspirations and desires.

Our holistic approach to care includes developing partnerships with family members and other health care providers to ensure we meet their physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual needs. We create an environment that resident and family members alike are happy to call home.

I toured Mount Pleasant Gardens Alzheimer's Special Care Center. The tour was good. They have a beautiful center outdoor space. They have a higher patient to caregiver ratio. There are more patients per caregiver, which is the reason why we didn't go with them. It was a clean dorm room type facility. They have two sections. They have higher functioning and lower functioning. They have them separated. The staff was nice. She was efficient, and she was on time. She gave us a lot of details and a lot of information. They have meals there. They have daily activities. They have a kitchen space and dining room together. They have an activity and a TV room.

I think that Mount Pleasant Gardens Alzheimer's Special Care Center is a five-star place and I loved it. The reason why I didn't choose it is that it's not far away from my home but the traffic here is horrific so it would take me an hour or two along with traffic. That's why they were kind of marked off the list, but it's a very, very good facility and I would highly recommend it. I toured their memory care. I liked the cleanliness, the staff, and the happiness of the people who were there. The rooms were just smaller and more expensive. Other than that, I didn't see any negatives to it. They have a library, a computer lab, a workout facility, and a craft room. They have a room where you get your occupational therapy, physical therapy, and things of that nature. They have beauty salon services too. A really big thing for me is if a place is not clean, I would not let my dog stay there, much less my mom, and this place was very clean.

My brother will be moving into Mount Pleasant Gardens within the next two months. It was very welcoming. The rooms were beautiful, and everybody was very pleasant. It's a perfect location, since it's very close to where I currently live in Mount Pleasant. I did go out into their private gardens, and they were beautiful. He just loves bonsai, and they were gonna have a bonsai show there. Obviously he's gonna miss that, but he's collected them for many, many years. They had an exercise room and a lovely room for different games and puzzles. We were most impressed with the gardens, and the actual area around it was beautiful. It's all fenced in and very secure, which is important when you're having dementia. Because of memory issues, it would be hard for them sometimes (especially at first) to remember where their room was. I was impressed with the care they took. They put a younger picture of the resident and a nice little writeup about them in their room. It also impressed me because they were looking out for the residents themselves to make sure they would be able to find their room after being there a while.

The facility is beautiful, light, modern, and approximately two years old. I visited many places to care for my wife and this was the winner by a long shot. She had been in care there for 7 months. The staff is just amazing, very caring and responsive to both me and my wife's needs. These 7 months have coincidentally aligned with the Covid-19 shut down. Although visits have not been possible, they have done daily FaceTime visits for us and will arrange window visits if desired. Just very recently, physical outside visits have begun being allowed. The food is very good. Activities are numerous and interesting but different stages of disease advancement will affect which of these the resident participates in. I have talked to many others who have a relative in a care center and essentially none of them are as pleased with the facility and/or care as I am with Mt. Pleasant Gardens. It is not cheap, but as they say you get what you pay for. They tend to remain at or near capacity, so this too is a recommendation by itself. It takes some time to get approved to be accepted once an opening occurs, so don't hesitate. I had cared for my wife by myself at home for several years and this change has been great for both of us. Highly recommend.

Staff goes above and beyond in accommodating and keeping informed with residents and family. Facility is very clean, organized, and well laid out with a huge outdoor sitting area in the center. Very safety-minded in protecting residents and staff during the Covid virus pandemic
