The one I liked the most was The Heritage at Lowman. The community was excellent. The staff member who assisted me was outstanding. She might have been the best. They have independent living, which was more like individual houses or duplexes, and assisted living, which was more like apartment living. They have a very nice swimming pool and workout center that can be used by everyone. In their workout center, they had people in there who were trained assistants to assist the people on different machines. Their machines seemed to be very friendly for those of us that are older. The indoor swimming pool was outstanding, too. They were not serving food while we were there, but they did have coffee out. The dining area looked very good. I was very impressed with it.

I found Heritage at Lowman for my husband. He is going to the Bethany (building), which is for memory impaired. Regarding the staff, I feel that they're going to be very good. I talked with a gentleman whose wife has been there for two years, and he has been very pleased with their care. The staff was very friendly and very willing to answer any questions I had. I had been there three times, and each time they had been very helpful. I felt like they were very concerned about their residents. I've looked at their menus, and it looked good. Heritage at Lowman is quite a large campus. It has skilled care, independent living, a wellness center, and a rehab center. It looked like they have quite a variety of activities. The day I was there, they were doing bingo, they had people helping the residents, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. I saw the room that my husband will be going into. It is very nice. It has a nice double window, so it is very bright. I think it is spacious enough.

Lowman Home is a retirement facility run by the Lutheran church. They have a good reputation. I had an uncle that was there. It’s well thought of. They have cottages or houses that are for independent-living as well as apartments. They have the full facility with long term, assisted living, and independent. I saw the room my uncle was in and it was very nice. They have a big campus. It’s a lot of green space.

We visited the Lowman home, but you need to buy a unit and that was really expensive. You could go from independent living to assisted living to nursing care. They do all the up-keep on there. They were not close together, and if you live in one of the homes like that instead of the main building, you could be mobile. We liked the person that we met and she showed us around. We looked at the outbound homes and we did tour a little bit of the facility. They have a swimming pool and activity rooms. The homes were older, but they were adequate -- two bedrooms, two baths and a patio; they were nice. There were people doing exercises in the swimming pool, guest, and card rooms. I don’t remember a lot about it because we didn’t like it; we didn’t feel that the homes were in a community because it was very spread out. The main building with assisted living was more secured.
