About This Community

Our assisted living program offers residents personalized assistance, with all-inclusive amenities. The care that each resident receives is unique to his or her needs. Each resident is assessed prior to move-in and is assessed regularly throughout their stay. This ensures our residents are always receiving the proper care for their needs.

Assisted Living provides the ideal solution for seniors who need some help with the activities of daily life (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and medication. Our plan is a focus on overall wellness and maintaining residents’ independence.

Care-related programs offered are:

  • Care staff at facility 24-hours, 7-days a week
  • Personal care assistance with ADLs: hygiene, grooming, dressing and bathing
  • Medication assistance and administration
  • Mobility assistance
  • Continence maintenance
  • Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy

Our Memory Care Program, for residents who require Alzheimer’s and Dementia care, is a secure, designated area of the Community. Our Nursing, Activities programs, and staffing are Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care specific. The Memory Care Program also includes private apartments and private bathrooms as well as common areas for dining and activities that encourage social, therapeutic, and physical participation.

Catering to Residents with Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care

We understand our Memory Care residents need additional and specific care. We cater to their needs through consistent staffing so our employees and residents can be more acquainted. We are choosing Harbison Shores for my mother. I was very impressed with the community itself. It's smaller, and I didn't want to put her somewhere that was too big. The staff was amazing, and everybody we talked to. She will be in a beautiful apartment and it has all new flooring. It is very well taken care of. It has a kitchenette, a living room, a nice bedroom, a big walk-in closet, and a nice bathroom. We saw the dining room and it looked very good. They had a theater area where they could go and watch TV with each other. They also had outside garden areas.

We toured Harbison Shores, and it just was hands down winner. The price was relatively reasonable, although none of them are super affordable. It looked clean and well-kept. You could tell that everybody was well cared for and well regarded. The rooms were really nice. They felt more like an actual apartment and not assisted living. We're only looking at assisted for my mom. Amy, the lady who gave us the tour, was fantastic. She just really took her time, and we didn't feel rushed. Some of the places we visited felt a little rushed. She was very honest. We asked questions. She was not shy about admitting any downfalls that they might have or any concerns that we had that we thought might be an issue. She was honest about whether they might actually be an issue or not, and I really appreciated that. One of the things we liked most is that all of the rooms had a patio.

We really, really like Harbison Shores, and we had a really, really good visit. We were impressed with their security at the front door. It was an electronic sign-in when you came in the door. I was impressed with the manager that actually did the tour with us. There was a medication nurse there that was giving out the medication dosage. She stopped and talked to us, and was very nice and very friendly. The way the rooms were set up was much nicer than the other place we visited. They have amenities like a beauty salon. The place was very nice, very well kept, and very clean.

The lady who gave me the tour at Harbison Shores was very nice and very upbeat. It sounds like they're going through a transition to really kind of re-modernize the place because it's pretty old. I think it's going to continue to get better and better, but it's just not what I'm looking for right now. They showed me a model one-bedroom. It was a nice layout and it was clean. The spaces were older.

My husband is doing well so far at the Harbison Shores. He is in a studio with a little kitchenette, a bathroom, and a huge closet. It's one building with three little extensions that have been totally renovated. It looks brand new. My husband has issues smashing buttons on the TV and stuff, so right now, we have a camera in his room. We can also talk to him on that camera, and he can answer us. Then we have an Alexa in that room. We can tell Alexa to make a call, and it automatically comes up on his screen, and that cuts down all our anxiety. He can't turn the TV on, so through Alexa, we can turn the TV on, too, and find the channel that he wants. It's very beneficial. The people have been nothing but nice and kind. He's not very talkative, but they keep engaging him in conversations. They're still on lockdown because of the COVID virus, so I haven't tasted the food, but he says sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's OK. There's a lady named Ethel who runs that floor, and she's great. She's the go-to person, and everything I called about and asked them to do, they've taken care of immediately. Even if he doesn't feel good, they still check on him every hour, so you can't ask for better than that.

I visited The Agape Senior which was a very nice place. They had a very small outside area. The rooms were very nice and very spacious. I was only there once, and the staff was all very nice and very helpful to answer question. The people were very nice, and it looked like they were being cared for. Overall, it was a very nice place. My daughter-in-law's grandmother had been there for many years, and the family had been very pleased with it.
