I wouldn’t recommend sending your loved one to Hattie. My mother was often found lying in her bed, soiled. The nurses, especially the head nurse are combative and unprofessional. The environment is very loud, the building and accommodations are very poor.

My father was not cared for at Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. He was very often dirty, and his clothes were not clean. He was not shaved, and he was left in isolation for long periods of time. They wouldn't allow him to use the restroom because it was too difficult for them to get him out of the chair. He got an acute UTI, he had a blood clot in his lungs, and his lung collapsed. They didn't even realize it. He also contracted COVID from one of their workers, and he was only there for a little way. He was there in for rehabilitation. The entrance, the part that they allow families to see was nice. The rooms, which they don't allow families to see, and where their loved ones are living, were shabby and dark. It's like an old institution. He liked the food there though. My dad was covered in bruises after his stay there. He was never brought out into the dining room where they were doing the activities, he was always left in his room. They were supposed to be doing therapy on him, but I don't know if it ever got done because they also limited the visits. You could only see your loved one for 45 minutes a day, and they don't provide telephones, so you couldn't even call. They don't provide any of the services that you would expect for what you're paying. They should have better management of their staff to make sure that their staff is actually doing their job.

My mother is at Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. I like the layout. It has a big dining room area that has a lot of windows and it's very bright. The service so far has been good. The food and the dining area are good. I see them watching movies and doing exercises. Her room is small, but clean. The staff is very good, but it's expensive.

My mother was discharged today from Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. I thought everything, overall, was excellent. I visited several nursing homes, and this one was clean with very friendly staff and wonderful services. The food was delicious, and the dining room was a very inviting place. The rooms were very adequate, very suitable, comfortable, and had everything that she needed. I did not mind that my mother was there because I knew she was in good hands.

Wonderful place! Great staff, wonderful surroundings, more than adequate number of nurses and CNAs. My mother was at the facility for about 5 weeks and really loved it. I would highly recommend it!
