Our tour of The Village at Waterman Lake was excellent. They had the facility that we specifically were looking for. We had a friend who was there and said that we should move now. Everybody appeared to be quite friendly, helpful, and cooperative. The rooms were adequate. It's not huge, but it's enough for what we need. The menu looked good as well. They had plenty of pool tables, they had a library, and an arts and crafts area.

The Village at Waterman Lake looked wonderful and cozy. It looked like the residents there had seating assignments, so you sit with the same people every day. I didn't see much staff around. The 1-bedroom unit that I saw looked adequate for a single person. The facility was right there up on the hill and the grounds were very nice. I was there when the residents were eating and the food smelled good, but I did not eat there. The dining area was upstairs overlooking the foyer. They had movie nights, live entertainment, trivia, and bingo. Cable TV, heating, and air conditioning were included in the cost.

I toured The Village at Waterman Lake's assisted living. It was just beautiful. The facility was immaculate; but it was not the place for my mother. It was too big. The room she would have is quite a ways from the dining room, and there was a staircase in the middle of the whole facility. The setup was too big for what she's in need of, but overall it was beautiful and top-notch. It's one of the best ones.
We sat down to talk about the pricing. They have ala-carte pricing, which confused me. It was unlike other places, where I have right in front of me what the monthly bill will be. That's one of the turnoffs I had from them: the ala-carte pricing.

I'm at The Village at Waterman Lake. It is a very nice community. The building is very large and very nice and the services that they provide for me are exactly what I need. My room is very spacious and very convenient. They have a very large selection of activities. It can suit everybody's taste for sure. The activities are endless. The food is very good also. Three meals a day are provided and so far, I can't complain about the food. They have trips to do errands, day trips, and all kinds of activities going on inside the building and outside the building. When the warm weather comes, we will have access to the patios and the garden areas around the building.
There's a very large staff. The dining room has a wait staff and they take your orders. You can have anything you want. If you don't like what the entree is, you can order anything you want. They have a boat that goes on the lake in the summertime. The boat goes out twice a week and they take some of the residents that want to go on a boat ride. The staff has been very nice and very helpful. If you need anything, they have a system to call for them and they come and help you.

My friend stayed in The Village at Waterman Lake. It was a wonderful place, however, they only accept private pay. He was there for fourteen months before he went to a nursing home. The staff was wonderful. They have many things. They have independent living, they have assisted living, and they have different things that you can ask for in assisted living, like showering or helping you to dress, and whatever you choose, and you're going to pay for those choices you make. But it is excellent, what they do for the people. They provide many activities, but my friend did not participate, and that was his choice. I've been there when he's had his meals and they were excellent. It's worth it, but you have to be able to afford it.

The Village at Waterman Lake I was very pleased with. I was extremely pleased with the 30-acre facility, but disappointed that the nursing home has only 20 beds. The nursing home is very small, and you're only allowed in a nursing home if you are a resident there. In this case, there would be no problem because my brother would be staying in the assisted living and his wife would be staying in the nursing home. It would be more difficult to get her into there because it's so small; the nursing home was only added as an afterthought. They started as an assisted living.
The staff is excellent. If I personally had to choose, I would be choosing The village at Waterman of the four places I've seen. The drawback or the negative part is the strictly no government assistance whatsoever; it's not Medicare funded or anything else. As far as the most important thing, he's able to take his dog. They would give him a first floor room, which has a doorway leading outside for him and his dog; it is an important aspect. We have seen other rooms where there were leashes set up for their pets, so they can let the dog go outside to roam the grounds and still be on the leash. It was nice. I told them, show me only what you have built on the first floor, and that's what they showed me. I was only interested in the one-bedroom. What is unique about they have cooktops. If it's determined the person on assisted living is too dangerous to have a cooktop, they will disconnect it. I think that is a positive thing as far as the Village goes. They had the residents' names on the doors, and they were assigned seating for a table of four people. This way they keep track of whether you're showing up for your meal or not. They look over and see that the seat is empty, and they know to go check up on you.

My mother was in the Village at Waterman Lake before she went to memory care. We visited them, and they impressed us the most. Everyone was very friendly, obliging, and efficient.

We visited The Village at Waterman Lake. The layout was fine. It was clean and very nice, and had a beautiful view of the lake. I was impressed with it, and the people were professional. I did not have my dad look at it. I only looked at it for him and decided that it wasn't actually a fit for a couple reasons. The price was a little higher than my dad wanted to spend, and it was pretty far away from our house. It was over 40 minutes away, and we didn't really want to go that far. The dining room was nice, clean, neat, and acceptable, but I did not eat there.

Everything was nice at The Village at Waterman Lake. I would have loved to live there, but they didn’t have a room available for me. The staff who assisted me was very pleasant. The dining area and the club room were very nice. There were residents in different areas, and it seemed like they were having a good time.

I liked The Village at Waterman Lake very much. It was excellent and beautiful, and I loved it. There's nothing wrong with it. Everybody was very nice, and the place was beautiful and very nice. The whole place was fine, and everybody was pleasant. The view is nice. You can't walk down to the water, and you can’t walk to church because of Route 44, but other than that, everything was fine.

Mom is now at The Village at Waterman Lake, and I think it’s outstanding. It’s on 30 acres of land, and there is a lovely lake where they take boat rides. They have lots of activities; anything you can think of, they have. The medical staff down to the restaurant staff and the maintenance crew are very excellent. Mom is doing very well.

The Village at Waterman Lake is close to family. My mother has just moved in there. The staff is excellent. The rooms are not huge but adequate. The dining room is very nice but small. Each unit has its own dining room. They had a piano recital, do bus rides every day, and bingo.

The Village at Waterman Lake was very nice. They have wonderful facilities at that place for people who want to do gardening or puzzles, and games. If you have your family there there's a nice small room that you could bring the family in. They have a small dining room if you want to have an elegant dinner. The only thing I didn’t care for is I thought the rooms were small for a single bedroom. The people who showed me around were wonderful, and it’s very close to her house. You’re not going to have as nice as a place. This place was really nice, very clean, and people are very friendly. It was a very very pleasant experience, and the woman who showed us around was wonderful. I have no complaints on that. There were no surprises, she was very clear on what we’re getting, and what it was. It was just expensive, and that was hard for us to follow.

The Village has excellent assisted living. The staff is happy and always willing to help out. They have been wonderful in getting my Aunt situated and engaged in all of the activities. I cannot say enough good things about the facilities and the staff….The retirement counselors are excellent and informative.

The Village at Waterman Lake was very lovely. It was like a hotel. It was less expensive than the other ones that I had visited. All the amenities were amazing. The rooms were gorgeous.

The Village At Waterman Lake was very pretty, but they have assigned seating, they want you to eat three meals a day in the dining room, and it is 25 minutes from Providence, so I decided that wasn't what I want.
The woman we met was very good. She was wonderful. The facility has beautiful setting, and it is near big shopping center, which is nice. That's about the only thing it had going for it. The rooms were a little bit smaller than I would like. They weren't bad, and it would have been alright if they didn't have the other drawbacks. They gave me a list of their calendar of what was going on, but we didn't really observe anything. There was a room with a lot of people sitting around having some kind of discussion, but that's all. They never called me back, and that's another thing; I think if they really were interested in me, they should have called me back, but they didn't.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful the staff, facility, food, and TLC is at The Village of Waterman Lake. They truly care about both the residents and families, and do so much to go above and beyond -- whether it be help in getting help in getting settled to fun activities or everyday issues or concerns... a terrific community!

My mom was a resident at The Village for almost two years. As a family member, I've witnessed an extraordinary change in my mother's quality of life. The Village is without question the best assisted living facility in Rhode Island. The caregivers are second to none. Many thanks to Diane (activities director) for her love and care for my mother. A true friend indeed.

I am so happy that my dad was a resident at the Village at Waterman Lake. Being at the "Village" is like being part of a family. That is the atmosphere that is cultivated there. All of the staff's interactions with residents and family are caring and compassionate. The care that my dad received there was exemplary, whether the person involved was an administrator, CNA, nurse, activity director, counselor, maintenance, or housekeeping. All worked together and the result was a safe, warm, and personal living experience.
The staff is knowledgeable and professional as well. Knowing the challenges and frustrations that my dad was experiencing because of his health issues, particularly in the past year, the staff worked very hard to provide daily experiences that could keep dad busy and engaged in life to avoid depression and loneliness. Whenever a problem or new issue arose as a result of dad's deteriorating condition, a trained staff person proposed solutions; also, of prime importance to the staff was keeping dad clean, dressed well, and respecting his dignity. I am comforted to know that in addition to family members, dad had a family at The "Village" that gave him an exceptional quality of care.

The Village at Waterman Lake is nice and very clean. It was around four or five miles from my place. I didn’t consider it because of the travelling and it gets pretty bad in the winter. The area is up on a hill. It is so pleasant, it’s like country. They have rehab and I know people were pleased with the rehab there. The staff is very nice. The rooms are OK but I didn’t go into a lot of the rooms. They always have something going on there and the food is very good. They also have a daycare.

My aunt liked The Village at Waterman Lake the best of the several ALFs that I had shown to her. One of the real draw was that the community itself was in a rural type setting and there was a lake across the street and during the summer months, the residents go on weekly boating trips and my aunt loves boating. The ALF side was beautiful and their dining room was elegant looking. It was a huge facility. I think it holds 100 people. My aunt has memory loss and when they tried her over here, she was overwhelmed because of the bigness of the facility. She had a negative reaction to it. She had to be put into their dementia unit with a locked door.

Right from the first visit, the staff was warm and welcoming. There is a family feeling within the community and the residents all try to make each other feel comfortable. Within a week, everyone knew my mom's name. The facility has something for everyone, special interest events/outings, shopping and most importantly for us, transportation to medical appointments. It is clean, the food is well presented and the variety is extensive.
