My mom moved into Garden Way Place. It was more of a home-like community. The staff has been there for a long time. When we went, it was clean, and well taken care of. I have not tried the food, but my mother complains all the time because it's not what she wants, though it always smells good. She had to be quarantined to make sure she didn't have COVID or anything. And when I was there, the food was presentable, it looked good, but it was just never anything that she wanted. The communication is excellent. If anything happens, they contact me right away. When I go in, they let me know exactly how she's doing, so no problems there either. And they're really good with her. They all say they love her. They come in once a week and clean her room. The place is always clean when you go. They try to get her involved in some of the activities like the crafts, the bingo, but she just doesn't like that kind of stuff. The activities director is really nice. She does go to my mom's room and does some stuff with her on a one to one, like doing crossword puzzles, or something that my mom enjoys. I would recommend this facility very much if they're looking for a place for their mom. My mom does have an onset of Alzheimer's, so they do work with that, and they have physical therapy right there on site. They have a nurse 24 hours a day. They just have a really good facility there.

My aunt has moved into Garden Way Place. They had six different levels of care, so it was like enhanced care, but not quite skilled nursing, and it was central to most of her doctors and hospital. It's a very nice, clean facility. I like that it's cozy. There are only 39 residents so staff can take care of them very quickly. It's not their food, it's that she used to be an excellent cook, so nothing compared to her cooking. The staff has been nothing but helpful to me, very pleasant and helpful. There are usually seniors right in the common room doing various things. I don't know, I don't stop to see what it is, but there's always somebody there. I think I'm getting what I'm paying for.

We saw Garden Way, it's very clean and had nice decorations. The apartment rooms were set up in a circle, and they have a yard-type area in the middle. The staff was always available, very nice, and very knowledgeable. It looked wonderful, but it was very expensive. They have laundry, and they have snacks out all the time.

My mother moved into Garden Way on March 3. It is a beautiful, clean, friendly, and very caring community. It has everything we were looking for. It has a very homey atmosphere. She loves the food, which is good because she was a good cook. They serve three meals a day and afternoon snacks. Their location is very central to everything in the area, which is one reason we selected it. It is very convenient.

I moved my parent from this facility mainly due to the high cost and the inattentiveness to my parent. I tried speaking to the staff and administration several times regarding my issues and nothing changed. The care my parent received here was inadequate, and I was constantly worrying about my parent.

Garden Way Place offer a little more levels of care in the event that you need it, but the cost to live there is out of our league. I didn't hear anything bad about it. It's very nice, but I think it's a little above what my parents are accustomed to living -- a little too fancy. It's a nice environment, the building is nice, the lounging area is nice in appearance, and it's convenient to everything, but the biggest thing is the cost.

Family cares in PA
February 26, 2016
My mom became a resident of Garden Way (previously called Bentley House) in 2006. We moved her there because as a family we wanted her to have the care she needed in a very home like setting. We were able to decorate her apartment with furniture and other items from her home. She received loving care and we, as family, felt very comfortable. As a testimonial to Garden Way, my mother-in-law has been a resident there since her fall at her home in 2014. She was first in a local nursing home where she did receive good care but therapy gave up on her and told family that she would never walk again because of her dementia. So again, we tried Garden Way. Within 3 weeks of having new therapy, she was walking again on her own and feeling good about her surroundings. As her health has declined, the caring attention that she is receiving from the staff and administration at Garden Way has increased. She has become a part of their family too.
