I'm in William Penn Senior Suites and Personal Care. Actually, if there was a better rating than excellent, they would get it. My doctor thought this would be beneficial to me until I get back on my feet. It's a little expensive, but the help, the care, the maintenance are all excellent. The staff is more than friendly, helpful, and manageable. The food is excellent, and they come in once a week to clean.

They were very nice at William Penn. The rooms were neat, clean, and small but OK. The staff was not as helpful, but they were very thorough in telling me everything that was available. It seemed like they were very attentive and very watchful. In the independent living, there was enough staff for the residents to be safe.

The only place that I really like was The William Penn Place. It was great. We got to go in and looked at all the rooms. We looked at single rooms, and we also looked at double rooms. They had some accommodations for people that are just great. I love the theater that they had for them. They have a place where they can sit out on the deck and get some sun. They can eat their lunch out there. I thought it was wonderful, but we couldn’t afford it. I was very impressed with this place.

My mother-in-law is a resident at William Penn Care Center on Ader Road in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. She is over 90 years old and has been living there for years. All in all, we have been very pleased and comfortable with the quality of care she is receiving there. My relatives visit her almost daily and I think that has helped to ensure that she receives the attention requires. When I visit the facility, it is always very clean and cheerful. There are many employees around and they are friendly and willing to answer any questions. The staff provides regular updates on her health condition and any issues. The resident is in a semi-private room with closet space and a private bathroom. We have spent time visiting her in her room and the dining room. When the weather is nice, she also likes to be wheeled to the outdoor gazebo. We also visit in the entrance area. There are couches and chairs and she enjoys watching the people come and go. In addition, I have visited when they have a sing-a-long in a community room that features a piano. My mother-in-law enjoys the parties and special events they plan. Her grandchildren are welcome to come during visiting hours. Like most facilities, the presence of elderly people, some with various medical conditions or dementia, and the hospital-like setting can be startling, but they seem to feel comfortable once they have spent some time there. Over the years, we have had a few problems. Once, a very young aide at the care center mentioned my mother-in-law by her full name on a social networking site. She was commenting on her attempted escape in a not so flattering blog. When I found the comments after doing a google search, we brought it to the attention of the home. The administrator met with our relatives about the matter. The girl was disciplined and the comments immediately removed from her site. The only other issue seems to be with her hearing aid. It seems to go missing often or she is not wearing it, or it is not turned on. This could also be the fault of my mother-in-law. At times, she can be difficult, has a very short memory, and is not mobile. All in all, we are very pleased with the quality of care received at William Penn. The center is well-maintained and the staff seems to have her best interests at heart. Due to her health conditions, the family is not able to take care of her alone, as they had for many years. I would definitely recommend William Penn to others considering assisted living or nursing home care for their loved ones.
