We walked through Peroni Personal Care Home. They had better value for the money, but you had to give on a few things. There you had roommates for most of the rooms and shared bathrooms, which was different than the individual apartments where my mother lived previously. They didn't have the point system for payment which made it a lot easier for folks. And whatever care you needed was included in the one price. I just find the layout to be a little confusing for me.
We didn't have a staff tour us, we just walked around. It was lunchtime and the staff were busy, so we just walked around.
They have very limited outdoor spaces. I know they had a schedule of activities just like every other place seems to. There were several areas within the facility where tables were set up and everyone seemed to know their area to go to for the meal. And that's one of the things I didn't like. It is an old building and has several hallways and rooms, and so part of the larger rooms was used for dining as well.
It didn't feel spic and span clean, but it wasn't dirty. And it wasn't modern. If you're looking at cost-effectiveness, and it's within their price range, it's probably good. I think it's adequate for the area and what they're trying to accomplish. It's not my cup of tea, but my mother was fine with it. It was clean and nothing appeared to be broken.

Peroni Personal Care Home has a happy and homey atmosphere, and it is only four miles from home, so we visit my husband every day. He moved there a couple of weeks ago. It's assisted living, but he has hospice nurses who come in as well.
The owner has a golden retriever that she brings in, and they go around and visit with the patients. My mother was in one ten years ago, and it wasn't this personal.
They have small tables in the dining room. It's not a very big dining room. The care is one on one and I like that. He gets help with his bathing, shaving, and everything.
The facility is nice, there's no smell of urine or anything, and I like it because it's a homey place. I like that they have a porch where they can go out and sit on the swing. Our daughter took him out for a ride, so you can take the residents out. We also visit him every day. He uses a little push thing that has a seat on it because he can't stand by himself, and there's always somebody to help him.
They all seem to accept him, know him, and call him by name. He gets a little bit cranky sometimes, but they're very nice and he likes it. If he's too hot, they try to accommodate. If he says his bed is too warm, they are always there to do it over and make it comfortable.
I like their staff because when I go in, they always say hi. They seem to make it their business to know who's coming and going, and the personal touch is always there.
I go up and sit with him at lunchtime because he's very difficult. He's lost his appetite and he's on medication trying to stimulate it, but nothing tastes good to him. He's pretty critical but they try very hard to make him eat. I see that the food is pretty good too. Every Wednesday they have a guy who comes in to sing, play the guitar, and entertain them. I don't know if he will get much out of that, though, because he's so hard of hearing.
Sad, frustrated, and concerned

My beloved relative is living here and her family is out of state. We call the facility often and they have never answered us. They do not answer their phone. We have zero contact with our family member because of this. Zero. She was placed here with the help of non-family who have POA over her. This is a heart-wrenching situation for us.

My parents have been in 4 different care homes this year as their care needs have continued to get more complicated. Some have looked much prettier than Peroni's and some have cost more. But none have provided the exemplary care that Peroni's has. Tony, the owner, runs this place with his heart and personally sets the standard for a high level of care. I've been to places where the staff and sales people pretend to have relationships with residents, but the caring relationship here seems very real. Mom is happier than she's been in a long time, and it's because the people here treat her very well.

I have a relative stating at this facility. The staff are very friendly and not only take care of the residents, but have personal relationships with them that you can tell the residents enjoy. The workers are more like family to them and it is a very friendly, clean, caring home where the residents feel like this is their home and enjoy the company if the other residents as well as the workers

I visited this facility as I am a friend of someone there. The staff was not only unprofessional, but unfriendly and bossy towards some of the residents. It seemed more like a prison than a personal "care" home.

My Mom is a resident of Peroni's personal care and it is a pleasant atmosphere for the elderly, calm and caring atmosphere, freedom for the residents to look and feel like they are living in their own hotel suite.. very clean and comfortable and the residents needs do vary from one to another but all are met with comfort and compassion for all.

I witnessed un-friendly behavior from the staff. Most residents seemed to be happy, but were not encouraged to move (otherwise immediatly escorted back to their seat). I understand working with the eldery can be time consuming and "irritating", but this is not a "home" type setting. I would consider this more of a "lock-down unit".
