My mother recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Carrie, the activities coordinator, organized a special party for her. The chapel was set aside for the family. The center provided drinks, the cake, and napkins, etc. We appreciated the kindnesses that were extended to her and the family. I was also impressed with the greetings that she received by all of the staff.

My mother is at Brookmont. It is very well maintained, and everything is very clean. Every time I go, everything is in order. Everyone looks well cared for too. My mother looks very clean too. So far, I'm very happy with the care. My mother shares her room with another patient but her room and her beddings are always very clean. I do know they offer activities, but my mother has not been able to participate. The dining area is large. The food is very good. I know my mom is very happy with it.

I've been in many nursing homes in several states. I'm very impressed with the way my relative is being treated here. People smile in this nursing home, the residents, their relatives, the staff and the nursing director. It's because they honestly care about their residents and do the best they can for them and the residents feel that. I'm grateful for each and every employee who has gone over and above to help my relative and I have seen many of them do it.

My mother is a resident for two months now. The food is awful, she's lost 10 lbs. She can't see to make her tea, I have asked repeatedly for it to be prepared for her, in a cup with a lid and straw. She cannot do it herself. I found her trying to drink the warmed water meant for tea after she had pried off the lid to put a straw in it, thankfully it wasn't right after it had been heated. Tonight's visit, I found a hole in her oxygen tube after having first found the oxygen concentrator wedged under the edge of her bed..I don't go see her every day, if I hadn't gone tonight she might have been dead by morning. Looking for another facility, this one is convenient because it's close to my home but the care is lacking to say the least..

Visiting the facility, I was a little surprised to see so many of the residents in wheelchairs roaming around. It didn't seem as though anyone was paying much attention to them. One of the residents was trying to get out the door when I walked in. Luckily, I closed the door before she was able to "escape". Touring the place, I was very concerned. A few of the residents asked for water and one said they would die before anyone gave them anything to drink. That was very disconcerting. Not sure if they were being fed well, as what I saw on the trays for the ones who are able to chew and swallow didn't look very appetizing. The rooms also could have been cleaner, especially for the ones who've been there for the long term. It also doesn't seem the workers care very much for the residents, they treat it as though they just need to do a job, and nothing more. I'm pretty certain I wouldn't put a family member in this particular place.
