I toured Ridgewood At Shenango Valley. It was very nice and lovely. Their rooms were nice. They're not huge. They have a lovely courtyard outside. It's just very, very nice. If they would have accepted me, I would have been there. The person who gave me the tour was lovely, very knowledgeable, very nice, and pleasant. She took her time. I have nothing but good thing to say regarding that facility. They go out to dinner, they go out to shows, they play cards, and they do crafts. One nice thing about it is they have all kinds of services. They clean your apartment once a week, they may change your bed, and they do the linens. They also have washers and dryers in each pod that's absolutely free, and you can wash your clothes. They have a little gift shop and a beauty shop. They have everything that you could possibly want.

Rooms are very spacious and include a large-screen television. The staff members are very pleasant. They also give great care to medication dispensing and were willing to assist in every way possible to ensure adequate and timely supply. I would highly recommend Ridgewood at Shenango Valley for anyone who needs respite care. They offer a variety of activities for residents and encourage participation to avoid isolation. The transportation support to doctor visits were very helpful.

I moved my parent here from another personal care facility in the area, Some of the things that originally had me wanting to move my parent were the on site hair dresser, the different options in the floor plan of the room. When I toured the neighborhood, the staff were inviting and friendly. It was a big decision to move my parent here. After having my parent here for 8 months now, I am so glad I have. In the last facility my parent had been admitted to the hospital frequently. At the last facility, I felt like I was always hounding the staff to pay more attention to my parent and it seemed like they were all but ignoring me. My parent's health issues would escalate and my parent would be admitted to the hospital. Here, the aides and nurses are very attentive to her health and she hasn't been in the hospital once. They catch what's changing with her and they get it taken care of quickly. They've called me many times just to update me what's going on with my parent and what they're doing which is a huge relief off my shoulders. Also, what's nice is they schedule my parent's appointments and if I'm not able to attend, they will drive her there and call me when she gets back to update me what's going on.

My mom will be moving to Ridgewood at Shenango Valley. It is 15 years old, a smaller facility, and it's only one level. It's very bright, and very modern. Her studio apartment will be very comparable to what she has now, probably even a little better. They are an assisted living facility, so they offer 24-hour LPN on-staff. The aides wear a beeper. So, if you need someone at 3:00 in the morning, and you pull the cord; it lights up on the particular aide's beeper, and they'll go right to the room. My mother is 101, and she has bad arthritis. One of the things that I'm real pleased with is they have this big professional Jacuzzi tub that she'll be able to sit in for her arthritis. Other than that, it's very similar to where she is now except we won't have to subcontract, and worry about it. The turnover is not frequent. The staff was very engaged with the residents, and they're on a first name basis. My mother will have a studio that has a kitchenette, a regular refrigerator, a cabinet, and a sink; we will provide the microwave. It's all one floor, and she'll have a big window that will overlook the courtyard. Visually, it's very good. If you make a left in the bedroom area, it's more defined. The doorway into the bathroom is about 7 feet from the bed. They have a large picnic shelter on the property, so throughout the summer they'll have outdoor events, and picnics. People come in for entertainment, and they also have religious services there. They have two chefs, but they will set your meals according to your diet necessities. If you're a diabetic, they'll make sure you have a diabetic meal. They're also a respite care facility that will allow the permanent residents to also participate in ongoing rehab. They do all that they can to have you out of your room socializing and exercising. The people that live there have their cars in the back. They're free to come and go, but they have a van. They do different events in the community if people want to go shopping. It is also connected to a health system. It's less than half a mile from UPMC Horizon, and 15 miles away from St. Paul's Homes.

the staff was failrly attentive but a bit indifferent. the place was hard to get around in as they supposedly had security, but it was actually just paid heavy handedness. they did help us well in setting up meeting hall for church, which was conducted by westside baptist in sharpesville, but the room was too hot, this kind of innatention was common.the place was fairly clean, though we sensed there was a core group that was ignored because they were chronically a problem, of course only in their minds. these kinds of people were dumped off commonly in our service.the place was fairly sprawling, seemed to have full facilities, but one just semed suspect that negligence was rampant there, though little proof was provided. families should be more attentive and visit facilities such as these more often.they were open to our church services though, and for that we do appreciate their contribution in nurturing spiritually these poor souls there.our church still does service there.
