The staff go above and beyond. My Mom enjoys getting her hair and nails done. She looks forward to the activity programs offered.

My Mother waa there for rehab. The care was terrible and she passed away before we had a chance to move. Her food tray was left where she couldn't reach it several times. She had a catheter and the drainage bag was always on the floor which breeds infection. We complained, they apologized and the next time we would visit, it would be on the floor again. The doctor missed pnemonia on a chest x-ray and she ended up with very bad infections.

My mom is at Birchwood. It’s a very good nursing home with good food that she enjoys. The staff is very friendly and just recently started getting her to go to Bingo and ice cream socials. She’s very comfortable there and really gets along with everybody.

I would really not recommend this nursing home to anyone, especially if you are already dealing with the hard decision of having to place your loved one(s) in nursing home care. They bully you into making financial decisions and doing things "their" way even though no other nursing home does things like they do. Getting paid is their top priority (not healthcare) and all they want to do is to get their nose into any and all of the resident's financial records (which, if you check around, is really none of their business). On a positive note--the nurses are friendly and helpful (however, they are very understaffed).
