Asbury Place was very nicely landscaped and fairly modern looking with beautiful grounds and really nice facilities. The location was convenient to stores and medical resources as well, although there’s medical assistance right there on the campus. I really was only able to speak with the counselor who was showing me around, but everyone seemed very pleasant. Walking past the residents, they seemed very happy. I didn’t see a lot of like lost and vacant looks or disgruntled people wandering around the hallways. I saw the assisted living facility, which was a pretty standard size in comparison to other ones. The dining area was very pleasant and brightly lit. The only thing that's holding me back from giving Asbury a 5 is because I didn't taste the food. If I had tasted the food and found it suitable, it would be a 5. The one thing that’s a negative is that Asbury’s buildings are long, so as a result, you have very long hallways for some of the residents. If you’re walking a few yards before getting to an elevator, that’s a lot of walking for the seniors.

mom's
My mother has been a resident at Asbury place for about seven years. The staff is very caring and know each resident very well. I know that my mother receives excellent care. She had lost a lot of weight prior to her admission and was looking pale and unwell. Within a couple of months, she had regained her color and was putting on weight. I credit the nurses there for saving her life. a few years ago, on Mother's day, she aspirated food. We didn't realize it, though. On the following Tuesday, the nurse called and said that she would like to have a chest x-ray, as she thought that there was something wrong - the nurse checks vitals of each resident daily. I agreed and we found that my mother had aspiration pneumonia. What would have happened if the nurse had waited until she showed signs of pneumonia, instead of playing it safe and having her checked out? As it was, she became very ill and spent a few days in the hospital.
