Sunrise at Granite Run needs to hire competent people and follow through with the stated expectations! I’ve tried so many times to improve our moms care; but all I get is talk! Food looks terrible and we have had to argue for everything we have been promised!

My mother is in Sunrise of Granite Run and it's been a very good experience. She is in memory care. The people that work here are very kind and patient with everyone. They do a great job. They're very patient and very pleasant compared to other places. They're very patient with the people they're taking care of, and they answer questions. They're very attentive. They call me probably six times a day. I have both my parents in here. They keep me updated on anything that's happening with them. They keep me informed about what's going on. They had live music one night. There's some arts and crafts. Compared to nursing homes, it's better care and much less expensive. The overall experience is better.

I went to Sunrise of Granite Run. The personnel was nice enough, I wasn't impressed with the memory care unit. I don't know what went into the open ward part of it. There was nobody there watching anybody. The seats were not comfortable looking. I just didn't care for it. From what I could see, it seemed clean, and they were private rooms. I saw some of the rooms, I did see their open area. Everybody comes out of the room and it's a locked area, but it's open to the residents. I think the area should be a lot warmer, a lot friendlier.

My husband just started his stay at Sunrise of Granite Run yesterday morning. The rooms and all the living spaces looked very bright. They have a lot of windows, which just helps bring up your spirits even on days where it's not sunny. The place is organized and they have staff members who have been there for 10 to 15 years. Everybody also gets involved with the residents, not just some people, but everybody from the higher management down to the staff members. They have a lot of activities for the residents and they just seem to provide a lot of care throughout the days. They're very forthcoming in telling you everything that they possibly can about the place. They want to know all about the residents so that they can meet their needs, make them happy, and do things that they know they would like to do. I saw my husband yesterday taking one meal and he seemed happy about it too. They bring them together to do different kinds of physical activities, like sitting in a chair, doing different motions, using sports equipment, balls or little sticks, and sometimes baking. Right now, some furniture is being replaced because they are already used, but the outside looks beautiful. It's very well manicured. It looks like little Victorian houses with turrets. It looks very pretty. It has flowers everywhere, there are porches with rocking chairs, and there's a specific area where the memory care residents can go outside. It's a restricted area where they have a high fence and a gate that's locked. They have a big porch with chairs and then a garden that's landscaped, so they can look around, walk around, and be outside.
