Saint Luke's is very clean and well maintained for a nursing home. To my experience the nurses are very professional and mostly very organized as a whole unit. My aunt fell twice at other homes and was moved from Mountain City (also in Hazleton, PA) and the former state nursing home in Weatherley, PA. She never fell again at St. Luke's and even regained talkative moments, smiles and her old usual zany sense of humor. Surprisingly the activities really do bring the whole room of residents together and that is a rarity worth mentioning. My aunt has grown very quiet with fading health, but the campy fun sometimes does liven her up for little burst of energy. Perhaps an eye roll! I don't think that would have been possible without protective watch. My mother and her family frequently make visits and any problems were always met with humble calm cooperation. Nursing homes in general are really the type of place where the environment can gain a negative reputation. Smells, sights, and the overall uncomfortable feel of a hospital are common. Anything a staff can do that changes that reputation in my mind is worth much more praise than 150 words.
