My husband moved into Messiah Lifeways. It's a very caring place. The care that he's gotten has been personal and good. In the nursing facility, there's a lot of attention given to the individual, and many people are involved with that. The food is very good. My husband has gained 15 pounds. So right now, we're trying to limit the amount he takes in by cutting in half the starches and the dessert portion. His room is comfortable. He is in a single room. It's the size of a double, and he has plenty of room himself for his belongings. A bed, a chair, and a bureau were provided. We have provided the rest. My husband is usually cleaned regularly. The laundry is done there for him, and they even label his belongings. So he is kept in good shape. The facility is not brand new, but it's adequate.

Messiah Village's food was ordered in and not fresh. For the money that they charge, the value is not there. My father had brain cancer last year, and he was having a hard time re-learning to walk and talk again, and since they weren't used to people getting better, they restricted him so much with independence that it was bad. My dad was their skilled nursing for some time and then he moved to assisted living. My dad wasn't happy there overall. They had activities, but because they restricted him so much with independence and wouldn't allow him to do things and grow, it just led to a bad experience overall. They had exercise, but it was like moving your arms and legs and was geared toward people who can't do too much. Their PT was a major factor in my dad's improvement though. They also have restaurants and shuttle buses, which are nice.

I had a very positive experience when I visited Messiah Village. My 90-year-old father-in-law had a sudden decline in his health. He was admitted to the hospital and subsequently transferred to a Rehab Center. My husband and I had the daunting task of visiting and evaluating nursing homes because it became apparent that "dad" would not be returning to his apartment. After visiting three prior facilities, we visited Messiah Village. Their nursing facility was top notch. It looked clean, smelled clean (unlike the other three facilities), and the professional employees were knowledgeable, friendly and obviously caring towards the residents of the facility. Visiting hours were flexible, so that family members could visit whenever it was convenient for them. Meals appeared to be appealing which was another change from other facilities. I was also very impressed by the facility overall. It was beautifully landscaped outdoors with neatly groomed grass, trimmed shrubbery and lovely flowers. Inside, the decorating was very pretty and inviting. Maroon carpeting and furnishings with gold trim gave the receiving area a classy look. I felt like I was entering a fancy hotel instead of a nursing home. We reviewed testimonials from patients and their families which were all positive. Most important was the quality of the nursing care which seemed to be top notch. Registered nurses were assigned to all patients and doctor's visits were frequent. Many activities were available for residents who were well enough to partake. Messiah Village stood out among all of the other facilities that we visited. It was obvious that others felt the same because they were operating on a long waiting list. Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed before we were able to take advantage of this quality institution.
