My parents are both in here and my family could not be happier! They have treated my dying mother with so much dignity & also my father who has dementia, with kindness & dignity. They love it there. They have even asked my mother what they could do to improve their service. Right now I can't think of anything. I'm just trying to enjoy my mom's last few days on this earth before she joins het holy saviour, God.

This facility looks great...but please do not be fooled!!! The care is mediocre at best by most employees,aside from a handful of the aides. Nurses do not assist when staff is short which leaves residents waiting long periods of time for care. Supervisors are short and cold with employees and also visitors,and upper management do nothing about the way some employees treat residents nor how employees are treated by supervisors and lpn's. Unprofessional conversation and comments are overheard,racial slurs and derogatory remarks are made in front of residents and visitors. Would never recommend this facility to anyone.

My father was transitioned to Avalon Springs after being in Pittsburgh for two months. When he was transferred he was on diabetic diet as well as a cardiac diet. The first day he was there they served him a hot dog-which is high is sodium. This was my first red flag. He was also given ham salad sandwiched, bacon and sausage. It finally got to the point that my family made food for him and brought it daily. There were times that his food sat on his tray because it was cold. He was given a bath twice a week, water was luke warm. He was considered a fall risk and they failed to secure his bed and he fell- result in an skin tear on his arm. Garbage was found on the floor under his bed, bathroom was disgusting. I photographed and document everything. By the time we as a family decided to remove him from Avalon Springs...he weighed 117lbs. He was depressed and cried every time we left..and we were there daily. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. Absolutely horrible experience!!! I even turned them into the state TWICE.

Avalon Springs Nursing Center is located in Mercer, Pennsylvania. This is a wonderful nursing care facility and a blessing to its residents and their families. My great aunt was transferred to Avalon Springs after three years at another facility. While she only had the pleasure of living at Avalon Springs for the last few weeks of her life, this time made all the difference in her personality and outlook on life. The staff at Avalon Springs is fantastic. All of the employees are so kind to the residents and their families; residents are really taken in to be a part of the Avalon Springs family. Residents are treated with love and respect, which seems to be very rare in nursing care facilities. The nurses take special care of each resident, and take time to visit individually with residents and get to know them on a personal level. The aides are kind and considerate, and treat residents as though their own loved ones. I love Avalon Springs and would recommend the facility to anyone looking for a nursing home. If I was unable to take care of myself, I would want to become a part of Avalon Springs, because it truly is a home, and a family.
