I had family members at Southampton Estates for 20 years in all 3 stages of care....I agree with the cleanliness issues- a bathroom was left covered in diarrhea for 3 days while my relative was hospitalized..we found broken glass the the floor of a nursing room 2x and the staff “lost” 4 pairs of Rx glasses and gave my relative readers to wear instead. He fell and was pronounced OK- and a later trip for an MRI showed he’d had a subdural hematoma that required a trip to a neurosurgeon. Lifetime care sounds like a bargain until you do the math and realize you cannot staff a nursing facility for the monthly fees from those on life care contracts. There are a few good nurses but they do not have the time to adequately care for the numbers of people who no longer can live in an apartment setting. Instead of letting me know my relative had put on a little weight, the aids dressed him in other people’s clothing. I prefer to think they were good people who simply did not have the training or the time to do the job right. We gave up the contract and moved.
