I had many visits/phone calls with Iris and Tom trying to get my Dad a room at Woodbourne Place. Unfortunately, my Dad passed before we were actually able to move him in. We did tour Woodbourne and several other senior living communities in the area and Woodbourne was, without a doubt, the nicest, cleanest and friendliest of them all!
Anyone looking to place a loved one in an assisted living community should keep Woodbourne at the top of their list.
Thank you Tom and Iris for all you tried to do for my family!

I went to Woodbourne Place. It was great; it was amazing. The apartment that we saw was spacious, even to the point where it was more than what my mother needed. As for the bathroom, I would want one of them in my house; that's how good it was. The staff was amazing, and he answered all of our questions, even the COVID-19 questions, like if it had hit the facility. He answered them very honestly. I was really impressed. We saw the dining area. They were finishing lunch, and you couldn't smell food like you would normally in a facility. The residents who had not finished yet were all very comfortable in the dining hall. There weren't a lot of people running around trying to get them out of there; they were very relaxed. They actually have an activities person on staff, and she's there every day. They have a large activities room, and they provide bingo, crocheting, knitting, and music. They accommodate anything that the resident is interested in, for example if somebody has a need to use their hands more.

Woodbourne Place is very nice and small. They're nearby where mom was living, which meant that she could keep all of her doctors. The staff seems very nice and very accommodating. It's very clean and very well-kept, and the grounds are nice. I haven't been able to get inside because of COVID though. It's very convenient for me, and it's right near a huge mall. So far, I've only met the manager. I've talked to my mom, and she seems happy with the food. They have food choices, and they actually will make something else if you don't like them. In the morning, they have two breakfast choices. They won't make you breakfast if you don't like it. I believe she played bingo and something else. She's only been there a week or so. I think they're charging a good rate.

We choose Woodburn Place. I did not tour the building, but I went there. I talked to the nurse, the director, and three people. Then I went to the room where I could see the rooms from the outside. So I got a full view through the screen of the room, and they gave me all the information. I thought it could work for my brother. Right after talking to the nurse and the person in-charge, the administrator, I got the sense that they were really concerned about their people. It's a smaller place than the other two, and I thought he wouldn't get lost in the shuffle. They provide a lot of good care; I just think that they really care about the people who stay there. It feels very homey.

The staff at Woodbourne Place was very social, very nice, and very cooperative. It was very well kept and clean, but it's small. You do things yourself there, but they provide meals. I didn't see dirt around the place or things neglected.

I went to Woodbourne Place three times, and I really liked it. It was clean, it was friendly, and there were things going on. It was nice outside, they go on trips, it has a lot of amenities, and it was in the price range I was looking for. The staff member was great, very friendly, and informative. She even checked in with me twice, and gave me a lot of resources, because I was in a strange place, and I didn't even know where I was. The only available were studio, so those were the only ones I saw, but she did show me bigger rooms on the other end. The food smelled good. It was the hallways which scared my mom. There were people with wheelchairs and walkers when we were there, there was a lot of activity, which we liked, but it was crowded in areas. The hallways felt very close when there were people passing by and stuff like that.

Woodburne Place was small with 48-50 residents and very intimate, which gave the staff a good opportunity to get to know each resident. That was very appealing. The gentleman I talked to was very well versed in all the residents there. His questions about my mother were relevant to understanding her and how she would fit in the community, and that was something I highly valued about my visit with them. The building was very well kept and very clean. The rooms had refrigerators and microwaves, were spacious, and you could bring your own furniture. The staff was very friendly; they asked me things about her that were above and beyond.

I like everything about Woodbourne Place. They have a lot of different games, like bingo, though my mother is not that involved because she is kind of private. The folks are very friendly and terrific; I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is very nice and treat her like they would treat their mothesr. They cannot be any nicer. It is excellent. The lady who runs it is A+. My mother likes bagels, so every morning, they bring a bagel to her room. She always goes for lunch and dinner, but they will bring food to her room if she wants it.

The visit at Woodbourne Place was very good. The person who took me around knew what he was talking about. I thought the rooms were neat and clean. The dining hall looked very attractive and the staff looked attentive. I believe the state requires two hours worth of physical activity per week, and they maintained more than the minimum level.

Woodbourne Place was wonderful. They were great. The gentleman in charge, Robert, was very informative and very good, kind, and courteous. The rooms were functional and homey, but the whole place wasn't too big. You have three choices for the rooms: studio, one bedroom, or a suite. There was a calendar of activities, and it looked like someone comes in every day to do something for the residents.

My visit at Woodbourne Place seemed very nice, but in the end, they weren’t able to actually accept my mother, because they couldn’t give the care that she needs. They seem very conscientious. They came and did an evaluation of my mom. Everybody seemed nice in that facility. The dining area was nice. The shared rooms were nice. The thing I like most about this facility is the fact that they have very friendly staff.

I liked Woodbourne the least because it was not very attractive and kind of dreary. The person I had an appointment with forgot. It did not make a great first impression.

Woodbourne Place was a nice place. They took my dad around to different places as many times as he wanted. The staff was nice. They gave me all the information that we needed, and provided back-up assistance because the person who we should have gone to see was not there that day. The rooms were OK. My dad said they were bigger than what he needed, but they were nice. The dining room looked nice. They had availability and had respite care.

I was promised travel arrangements would be made for both parents for doctors appointments. My mother has required
transportation for mammography exams follow-up and has talked to the "wellness director". She has been told there is no transportation. Prescription drugs have been given to residents without checking whether said prescriptions are taken.
The "world class" chef with 35 years of experience has served sandwiches for both lunch and dinner with no
fresh vegetables or fruit. Obviously the chef doesn't understand or practice nutrition or a wll-balance diet. Two
years ago choices were available for lunch and dinner... not so much now..
Two years ago there were weekly bus trips to Walmart and Dollar store. Judging from my parents debit card
these trips are limited to once a month.
This information was verified with two other residents in
addition to my parents.

Woodbourne was simple. It had only 49 patients. If you were looking for glamour, it wasn't it, but they pride themselves on being small enough that they could keep an eye on their patients. They had big apartments. They had their social recreation on list, and they took the residents out a couple of times a week if they wanted to go. They took them shopping or so. I didn't try the food, but I looked at them. They used one of the big companies for the supplies for their meals, but they had their own kitchen.
It looked clean, it generally smelled clean, and it was very simple. It would be a place I would take somebody who was not quite ready for a nursing home.

My father is at Woodbourne Place, and it is a nice place. But there were some things that I was kind of disappointed about, like when I first went in there, I could see through glass doors leading out to a beautiful patio with people who shared an umbrella, and I said to the saleswoman, "Oh, do you have parties here, like on the Fourth of July?" and she nodded yes, and smiled. Now, he's been in there since the beginning of June and they never once had a party. They've never once used that. Besides, the doors are locked and you can never go out there. It is just there for show, so that when people come in looking for a place to put their parents, it looks great. It is false advertisement. Also, they told me that they have a bus and they would take my dad to his doctors' appointments, but then later on that changed, and now I have to hire somebody else to take him to his doctors' appointments. There are just some things that they wouldn't be saying beforehand. His room is really nice; it is a beautiful room, and a beautiful facility. There is an activity room, and they have activities in there like Bingo, games, movie night, arts and crafts and stuff. I tried their food once and it was OK. My dad said it is OK, but it is only the same old food. It is not what you get in a home-cooked meal.

It is very close to where I live and it's very nice. It's only a 35-bed facility for the quality of care she really needs. It’s a smaller facility and the deal that she got with her room was really good. Her room is a nice-sized room and it had a private bathroom. These things were the main factors on why she chose the facility. They got a lot of games. They play a lot of old time music and they also do crafts. They also take the residents out to shopping. The staff are very good and they all seemed like they care a lot. They know what they are doing. The food is very good. She has eaten the food and she says the food is very good. It's good quality food and I'm very happy with this.
