So upon moving mom out the mail issues have been a nightmare. They don't have individual mail boxes for residents so because sunrise sorts all mail in house you cant forward mail through the post office if you move out. major pain. they also only speak to POA about any medical issues. This does not work, so if they hospitalize a resident and cant reach the POA they will not tell any other of the residents immediate family what happened, or that the resident is not in the building. The Dr is an issue when they plan to put all memory issue on a self until the get the "know" the resident, mean while the resident ends up spending more time in rehab for breaks due to falling than in Sunrise over a 6month period. Listening to all that know the resident especially the ones who spend the most time with health care even if they are not the POA is extremely important and not done at Sunrise.

My mother-in-law moved into Sunrise of Exton. They're very friendly, helpful, and caring. We're very happy with them. The layout is very good, and it's clean. I think they take care of the place pretty well. She doesn't eat much. She's not really into the food and I haven't eaten anything there, but I think it's adequate. She's not able to do a lot of activities. She can't see and she can't hear. I think she enjoys watching the people in the lobby area and she likes to smoke. They have a smoking area and that's one of the big reasons why we chose the place. Assisted living is generally expensive. As compared to other places, it's not that much more, but in general, it's expensive. Communication is a little lacking. There were some issues with the COVID restrictions where we didn't know that we couldn't see her right away, and it wasn't explained to us that well. Hopefully, that will get better soon, but in general, everything is fine. We were just a little frustrated in the beginning.

I got a tour of Sunrise of Exton. It was great, but it is not something I can afford for my mother. It was first class. The whole community was nice. I met one of the managers who took me on a tour. The apartment was very nice.

My husband stayed at Sunrise of Exton. It was very beautiful, like a five-star hotel, but I wasn't happy with them neglecting him. When he came home, he had four pairs of underwear on, he hadn't had a shower, and his washcloth was dry. Everything's beautiful, but the care was flawed. They didn't spend enough time with him because he was not in a wheelchair, nor he didn't use a walker. He could walk on his own and because he was more able to do that, they didn't pay a lot of attention to him. They paid more attention to the people in wheelchairs and walkers. I wouldn't recommend that place to anybody. They didn't do a lot with him. He was always in his room laying down in his bed, and he was alone a lot. They're too expensive for what you get.

Sunrise of Exton was very nice, very ligh,t and bright and airy. The staff was very friendly. They had a nice dining room, nice sitting areas, and places where the residents could play games and listen to music. We thought it was very charming. The rooms were studios and also a couple of different suites. There was music and entertainment. The facility layout was nice.

While no place is perfect, Sunrise comes close. Our family member was there for almost 4 years til she moved to skilled care last month. She is quite demanding & needed more care than assisted living provides, yet the Sunrise staff was very accommodating and patient with her. Nice environment, homey feel. No issues with pill delivery or room size, hers was quite a large shared room. Always activities going on, trips, etc. Price increases based on care level, of course. Overall, a nice place. Would recommend.

Sunrise of Exton was overpriced for what they provided, and it was more of an assisted living situation than independent living. I didn't interact with anyone other than the marketing people. The rooms were very small. They had a lot of activities.

Lack of communication with family members, frequent UTIs, lack of mealtime assistance, clients sometimes not gotten out of bed and fed breakfast until after 10, rude head nurse in wellness, expensive for size of room

Actually, prior to my husband and me going together at Sunrise of Exton, it was a 5. But after I took him there, and we met with the person who was in-charge of assigning the care levels, it went down to a 1. This was a new thing because he’s only 68 and used to having me take care of him, so it was an attitude addresser for him, plus the fact that I can’t care for him anymore. The woman that was in-charge of the personal care and nursing aspect had quite an attitude. He had verbalized that he would try to leave the facility, and she bluntly told him, “Sir, if you say you were leaving, then you would have to be in the locked unit.” And then, I was put aside by the marketing person who said, “You don’t want that. He is too high functioning to be in the Alzheimer’s or memory care unit.” That left a very bad taste in my mouth and my husband’s mouth, and we just totally shut down the negotiations at that point. It was the closest of all the facilities to my house, so that was a plus. I absolutely was very fond of the director of the facility and the marketing person, but, like I said, the person who was most of an obstacle was the nurse or the LPN who was in-charge of the personal care and nursing aspect and her attitude.

My mother lived at the Sunrise of Exton facility from 06/13/2013 thru 10/25/2015. During the first year there everything was fine until the management change (executive director) in 07/2014. After the arrival of a new manager there things started to go down hill in terms of staffing problems and the general quality of meals. Our family tried to talk to them about our concerns but they where ignored. After our complaints the care for my mother dropped. For most of her time there she did not need that much but what care she needed was ignored by the care givers and there management. The only thing that seemed to changes was increasing the cost of my mothers care. Our family feels they are concerned more with making as much money as possible and the care is secondary. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

My friend is currently living at Sunrise of Exton, and she is doing quite well. I think the young girls and the CNAs are very nice. I think she is receiving good care. The residents look very alive. You do not see many of them sitting around with their heads down. I have been there many times with her. The food was good, but I do not think they have a variety of meals as the other place I have been in. I think it is very secure, and it is very clean.

Sunrise of Exton had a very good program. The problem was they don't have a nurse 24/7. My mother is 90 years old, and I didn't want her being sent to the hospital for no reason. She takes blood pressure medication, and I wanted somebody to be checking her blood pressure. The room was just fine, and they kept the people actively engaged. They had a central area where they watch over the residents. They were kind; it was just that they didn't have a 24/7 nurse.

My son liked Sunrise, and they all seemed to want to get in there, but they don’t seem to follow through when you ask questions. He went to a meeting three weeks ago, and he was going to send out all of the minutes of the meeting. We would like to see her bathed more; they were bathing her twice a week, and she looks terrible. They put her in diapers, and she is supposed to be in some memory facility, and I don’t see anybody doing a whole lot. They’ve got a roommate in there that moans all night. We’ve been trying to get that taken care of. This is $6000 a month, and for this kind of money, I would like to see better care. She has been complaining that she is in pain, so they did a urinalysis. They called me at home at and said, "She has stomach pains. Can you bring her some pepto bismol?" I said "You’ve got to be kidding; you’re telling me you don’t have somebody there like a doctor?" She still has to make an appointment to see the doctor. But it’s a lovely place with a spiral staircase.

I was referred to by a professional to Sunrise of Exton. It was very nice. Everyone was friendly. The facility was clean. It just felt like home. The staff is very good and very caring for the resident. They go out of their way because it seems the care givers took pride in what they do. The rooms are very nice. I have tried eating there, and it is very good. My dad is doing OK. They have all different kinds of activities like arts and crafts, singing, games, rides, and shopping. It’s a smaller community and not as large a place as some of the others, but it met our needs. The surrounding is very nice. I would recommend this facility to others.

My mother has Alzheimer's and she is in Sunrise of Exton. I didn't know exactly when she was moving because my father was having surgery and was using a caregiver. They were the only ones who were able to actually tell me that they will hold a bed for her. I did check into other facilities. The place is kind of like a five-star hotel, it is beautiful, everybody is friendly, it's in a nice area, and I feel that she has done well there.

Sunrise of Exton was great. The staff were very helpful. They have a lot of activities taking place. They even have a live band. I did not get the chance to sample the food, but they have plenty of food selections to choose from. Overall, the place was very nice.

I was initially very concerned in transitioning my mother from a nursing home to an assisted living place but she was getting better and didn't have to be in a nursing home anymore but not well enough to come home. I have been very pleased with Sunrise. It's very clean and the food is above average. Most importantly the care managers are great with my mother. She can be demanding. So if she's pleased with them they must be giving her a lot of attention. I would highly recommend.
