My mother was at Providence Care Center for rehab. It's not a very nice place. The staff seemed nice; however, the facility was very old and not kept up. The food wasn't very good. She didn't really have a choice of what she was allowed to eat, and there really weren't any activities. The rooms were not very nice. They weren't very thorough with her therapy. The therapy was done in her room because of the concern of COVID, and it just consisted of her walking around her little cubicle, and that was pretty much it. The staff was nice to my mother and to me. It's not their fault that the facility is the way it is.

My mom is at Providence Care Center since October 26th. Providence is wonderful. They're wonderful. They took excellent care of my dad and they're taking excellent care of my mom. The staff members are great. I can't go in because of Covid, but they're great. They're very responsive when I call, they answer my questions, and they're very helpful. They're accommodating to her gluten-free, so there was no problem with the food. It's an old hospital and it's not fancy, but that's not what matters. What matters is the care and the concern of the staff. They definitely care and are concerned. When we were going to see my dad, it was always clean. They called us in as a family, we were there for five straight days while he was in the process of passing. It was so clean, like you think maybe they let things go when families weren't allowed in, but it was still clean, so I'm impressed. It's expensive, but I feel my mother is getting the care that she needs, so I'd say it's good and it's appropriate.

Provident is a sterile environment with not much to do. My mother (who is a current patient-resident) and I are routinely told that the actitivies director will begin to offer more variety and interesting things to do, but never follow up. The staff seem pleasant in saying hello and goodbye, but concerns and issues important to our family are not tolerated so well. I have been told that somebody would get back to me and return my calls, which rarely ever happens. When I attempt to call back after waiting several days/weeks, supervisor becomes short tempered and abruptly hangs up the phone. Mother calls me on the phone, tells me that nobody will take her to the restroom after an hour of waiting. She asks if I will please call the nurses station to have somebody assist her. When I call the station, they tell me that they are "well aware" and waiting for somebody to assist my mother. More than typically, mother calls me back to tell me that she had soiled her clothes and waiting for somebody to clean her. If you are satisfied with polite hellos, goodbyes and idle chit-chat, the staff are ok to deal with. If you have serious concerns, ask for names for reference and/or accountability, or try to converse intelligently with a supervisor, be prepared to be belittled and hung-up on - the superiority complex is simply amazing. We are now in the process of interviewing other care centers. Now that we understand what actually happens in "care" facilities, specifically Providence, we now know what to look for. The place is like a prison with a do not ask questions policy.

Providence Care Center was very stoic, cold, more like a hospital, and there were people in wheelchairs all over the place. It was $10,000 a month. I wouldn't want anybody to go there. There was not enough help, and the rooms where hospital-like.

My uncle has been in Providence since June. It's okay and clean. They have a TV, game room, and people can go outside. They have events and stuff for the people, and basically, it's a nice setup. The staff was really nice, and he loves the food.

My wife's mother is already in Providence Care Center. Everybody is really nice there. It is really clean, but it was 60 miles away from here and we want to move her to this area where we are now. She seems to be happy there. We eat there with her, and the food is very good. Yesterday they had somebody playing the guitar and another guy on accordion singing Christmas carols and stuff in the dining area. What stands out is that the people are friendly.

The staff at Providence Care Center treats him very well. They are good. The rooms are like regular hospital rooms, and they are of decently sized. The food is good. The staff are very friendly.

I think that Providence Healthcare provides very good care. I felt as though my grandmother who had care there was treated with respect and the staff was both compassionate and knowledgeable. Although it was not home they really tried to bring a sense of the person's personality by permitting some items from home to make it look less clinical. The staff who were obviously very busy always stopped to greet family and talk with us and let us know any news and updates which was really important to our family. The downside was that the facility was very crowded and the room size seemed pretty small. Also, they could probably use more help with staffing because everyone seemed like they were one step behind in getting things done on their schedules. Overall, I felt the experience was a good one and I feel compared to other services in the community offered it was a good decision.

My Aunt was admitted here for rehab following a fall at home where she fractured her back. Staff was instructed to keep her from getting out of bed without assistance (the reason she fell and fractured her back at home). Within 3 hours of being admitted, staff ignored her call for assistance to go the toilet. When she got out of bed herself to go to the bathroom, she fell, hit her head on the sink resulting in a subdural hematoma and shattered wrist, plus more damage to her already fractured back. They failed to notify listed emergency contacts and waited until the next morning to call an ambulance. She was then hospitalized at the Medical Center and transferred to Allegheny General Hospital where she spent 3 weeks suffering from demential and delirium before being admitted to a different rehab hospital. I'll post more following my lawsuit of Providence Hospital for negligence.
