What we liked about Holy Redeemer Lafayette was that it was very homey. A lot of places that we looked at were like hotels and we just felt like this was more to our liking. They have both independent living and assisted living there. The facility was excellent. It was very clean. When we were there, they were shampooing rugs and everything throughout, the entry areas and all through. They had just finished rehabilitating all of the units. It was very nice because everything was fresh and clean. There were a lot of exercise classes and trips out beyond the facility itself. They had all the same things everybody else did. If you needed to go to a doctor or do some shopping, they would have someone who would take you. There were nurses on duty all the time. There's a doctor also who's there five days a week. The library they had was very nice and much larger than I expected because other places I looked at didn't pay too much attention to the libraries for some reason. I was very pleased with this library here because it was filled with books and everything. We didn't interact with the staff too much, but I could see from the other residents who were there, that they knew each other by first names and stopped to chat. It was a nice repartee. As compared with some of the other ones, it's not glitzy. It was homier and the staff was wonderful. The young lady who took us around, Claire, was very lovely, very informative about everything, and very helpful.

My mother is now in Holy Redeemer Lafayette. I like that their personal care area has very large rooms, she's in a 1-bedroom apartment that's very nice. The price is good too. They also have completely furnished rooms, she has a refrigerator and microwave. There's a stove but they don't let you use it, her's used to be an independent living apartment. They have activities like bingo, they have shows now and then and stuff like that. Everyone's been great so far. It's in an area where there are parks around, so it has very nice scenery outside with the park views. Her room has a screened-in deck and a patio.

Holy Redeemer Lafayette was really nice. It was our second choice. We didn't take it because it was a little too far from everyone. The staff was excellent. I saw the dining room, the activity rooms, and the common rooms. I had a pretty good tour. Everything was great.

My aunt has been living in independent living in Holy Redeemer Lafayette for a year and a half. She has a one-bedroom apartment with a galley kitchen and her own bath. She is eligible for one meal a day and she usually has her dinner delivered. She enjoys the movies they have a few nights a week. They have a large lobby with a library and a small store, a hairdresser, and a bank open two days a week. A girl comes in once a week to vacuum and clean the bathroom and kitchen. They have an exercise room located right on my aunt's floor with a treadmill, bicycle, and arm exerciser. They just got new management in the kitchen so the food went down hill, but they're trying to get someone else to come in there and manage their dining room. The facility is good, clean, and navigable, and their housekeeping and security staff are always professional and pleasant. Overall, it's a good place for seniors. They have crossword puzzle and trivia games and a bus that will take them to department stores and supermarkets that are not too far away. It's very expensive at almost $2,780 a month.

The Lafayette was very nice. The arrangement that they had for passage from full capability to disability for dementia or some other kind of disability seemed to be a bit constricted. Overall, I thought it was very nice if you were in good health and could take advantage of all the activities there, but if not, it seemed you would be constricted to a separate area for people who had some level of disability. The staff was very nice and very friendly. There were some people with rooms that had a view of the park, but not all of the rooms had a view. Residents were nice enough to let people wander through their apartments. The food service was like a buffet after the tour, which had what seemed like good-quality food.

I moved my parents to Lafayette-Redeemer. The staff is very good. They're in independent living, so they basically have their own apartment, and they keep them very busy. There's plenty of activities right on their campus and a lot of times they don't have to leave their building, which is good because they're older and not driving. The food is decent, and my parents are very happy and comfortable and that's all that my siblings and I care about. The food is mediocre at best, but it's nutritious, and they like it and that's really the most important thing. It's a very decent place. It's not 5-star, but it's very comfortable and nice. The staff is incredible. It needs a little updating in certain places, but their apartment was completely renovated with a new kitchenette and my folks are very happy there. I don't have a bad word to say about the staff, and the residents there are all nice. The place is great. It's in a park-like setting, and it's very nice.

The Lafayette-Redeemer started as an assisted living facility. Then it changed to personal care and dropped all activities, so they weren't able to meet my dad's needs. It was fine as an assisted living facility. You could choose off a menu. There was a country club atmosphere at the dining area. They had white tablecloths and brought people in for entertainment. But they didn't make an effort to take the personal care patients down to see everything. So unless they made a special stop on my dad's floor, there wasn't much other than TV to get.

My mother lived here for around 5 years before she passed away. I enjoyed visiting her because it was clear to me that the facility was well-maintained and that the residents were well-cared for. I recall that they had movie events where they would show movies to the residents, as well as performers of many different kinds. My son was part of a local association of young magicians when he was younger and they performed at the home. I visited her room many times and the staff made sure that her living space was kept clean. There were rooms for the residents to meet each other, to talk, and to play games and piano if they wanted to. Every floor had its own garbage disposal chute and she was never in pain. When she needed medical assistance, she never had to wait and it was always of very high quality. The nurses genuinely did a good job whenever they were needed.
