I toured St. Mary Center. It was very dated, and it needed some work. The room that they had available, for my taste, wasn't something that I would put Mom in. The young lady who took me on tour was very sweet, but everything was very dated.

Food is horrible and repetitive. Mostly fish daily. Everything is cold. Aides are slow in responding. Not caring. Loud buzzers from doors go off constantly. Patients wonder into other patient rooms. Not a safe feeling for my parent who lives there.

I have lived at St. Mary's for a couple of years and really love it. I have my friends, my activities, my routine. People help me with whatever I need, I can't say anything bad.

Where to begin, Saint Mary Manor fell apart after the archdiocese of Philadelphia sold this to a for-profit organization. My close family member had a private room that we had to fight to get cleaned. The food was substandard , The evening staff and weekend staff was nonexistent, all of the good nurses left for other facilities. The temporary help was just that temporary. The facility was always short staffed. It was it was difficult to communicate with facility administration because phone calls and emails were rarely returned. I urge you to look for another facility.

Please do NOT leave your loved one here! St. Marys used to have a great reputation but it has gone downhill in the last few years. Patients are mistreated, ignored and borderline abused. They mismanage medications, forgetting to order refills and allowing patients to miss one or sometimes TWO doses of essential medications. Residents have been sent to the ER with bedsores, because they aren't cared for properly. Nurses are understaffed and under-supported. The few good ones are quitting and the temporary nurses are awful. Administration is over taxed and rude, doesn't care about families concerns. Honestly, RUN away from this place.

St Mary Manor has three levels of care. The archdiocese sold it and due to the large turnover, the state of the place really declined over the course of a month. My mother-in-law was at their nursing home before she passed away and she loved it there. She loved the staff. We never saw the day shift, but she loved them. When we were there at night, we weren't too happy with the night shift staff. It was a clean place. They had happy hour, Bingo, and there were crafts, too. She loved the salon too; I know she was involved with that. We met with the new people from New York who just bought the facility and we were all happy when they said they would hire new staff and get rid of lazy employees. They're changing over there, so I think they're going to be good. I think it's going to go uphill.
