Maris Grove was very nice and cozy. You walk in there and it was like stepping into a really big hotel that looked beautiful. They had theaters and different eating areas. The walking areas were nice. We saw the apartment and that was very nice, too. We also saw residents gathered together playing cards and doing crafts, and that looked great. It looked like a nice place to live. The staff that we met was very pleasant.

We will be moving into Maris Grove. The facility was excellent. We liked the care and everything about it. The staff members were excellent. The apartment we picked out is going to be very well suited for us. We were very impressed with them. We liked the size, amenities, and overall layout of the place. It meets our needs. They have a courtyard. The facility is very well organized, very clean, and accessible. They have many clubs that we can get involved in, and it's a place that I think we can enjoy.

We toured Maris Grove and we liked the warmth of the community, especially the people that they have hired to do the tours. They were very kind and not at all pushy. It's a beautiful facility. Everything's very clean, very fresh, and very friendly. It's very accessible to anything that anybody could ever need, like huge shopping centers.

The following is my HONEST review...period!
(The plus:) The management tries very hard to address concerns that involve safety and well being. They also are outstanding in dealing with the virus concerns. The food is good but not outstanding and is rarely hot but warm and that is o.k. for most of us. Security/ Medical is very good and they have hobbies galore. Price is average for this area.
(The minus:) PLEASE bring a lawyer and a recorder with you on your purchase day. There will be promises and lies galore to sell you....period!

My aunt lives in Maris Grove and that's a wonderful place. It was different with Covid, you couldn't go in. Pre-Covid, it was a great place. Everyone was friendly. The place was very nice, clean, and appealing. My aunt seems very happy there. They have everything. They have the dining, a pharmacy, and all of the activities. The meals are up to the plan that you get, but she has some meals (not all meals). When I was there to visit her, she prepared the food for us. She has a social group that she is very close with. They've become best friends, and the staff members are all very friendly and helpful. The building is fairly new. It's a little bit more on the expensive side. If you have the money, it is on the top of my list.

Dining services have been going down hill. They treat us like children when trying to get a dining reservation.

Maris Grove Senior Living Community seemed like a very nice and very clean community. It had all the things that we needed. It had an exercise room, a pool, activities, a restaurant, and a bistro. It had all the three levels, the independent, assisted and skilled nursing. We were looking for a place with a balcony and most of them didn't have balconies.

We have moved into Maris Grove. It is fabulous. We have a fabulous apartment. The food is fabulous and the care is fabulous. Everything is fabulous about it. The staff members are excellent. My wife is interested in ceramics and art. They have hundreds of different programs. I'm doing the exercises and the computer activities. Our apartment is spacious and very clean.

My mother was there for almost 10 years as she started to decline, they pushed for her to move out into the assisted living part. What they didn't state was there wasn't a "memory care" like other facilities. She would say that security was entering her unit, once reported they just chalked it up as being crazy. While I was packing her things and cleaning out her unit, a security guard walked in unannounced. Imagine my shock. She was always telling me that someone was stealing from her and someone was in the unit. She was progressively getting worse but all her jewelry was missing, $10K worth. I can't prove it and they deny it but listen to your loved ones. They are not always "crazy" We use to call it the compound. They have a bank with SDB, a hair salon, gym, indoor lap pool, their own doctors, convenient store, movie theater, cafeteria, dinning rooms, a bar, and a very rude "gate" person. No reason to ever leave, you didn't even have to go outside, all buildings were connected. It was very nice but I would't have allowed my mother to move in if I had anything to do with it, They even kept $65K once she moved out. They said they needed to gut the place which indeed they did. (you can build a whole house for that amount of money not a two bedroom unit) She did get back what she put in for it, less the 65K and three months rent! Once she moved out they were selling her unit for $75K more. Please educate yourselves before moving into these communities. It's all about the money, it always is. Good luck!

We're about to move into Maris Grove. I've heard a lot of positive things about it. The facility is extremely well-cared for, the staff and residents are very friendly, and we have about 500 activities to choose from, with most of them run by the residents. They have meeting rooms, woodshop, garden areas, and a beautiful chapel. The apartments are beautiful, very well-cared for, and with different choices. They're building new areas that are opening in 2018. The food is excellent, and they have 30 meals a month as part of the package. There are three different restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner.

I liked that there was one entrance in and out of Maris Grove. I liked the apartments, the sizes and the conditions of the apartments. It looked like high-rise apartments. Each building was connected to every other building so you didn't have to go outside at all if you didn't want. I think there were 11 different buildings so it's a pretty big facility. They have like 1100 or 1200 residents.
I like that there were a lot of choices for activities. They had a travel club that was really neat. They had just come back from Spain. They were going to the national parks. They seemed to offer activities that other places did not and they offered them more frequently. Even grocery shopping, Maris Grove is a larger facility so it has the option to go several times a day.
They have a program that helps to keep them living independently so I really like that. They have an assisted care and the nursing facility. They had their own doctors on staff not with just visiting rights but they had 4 full time doctors there that work for that facility so you can get your care there. It was, by far, the nicest place that we looked at.

The rooms at Maris Grove were very good. We just felt that facility is a little too active for us. It's a large facility and all the community stuff going on and the restaurant is in a separate building. It involves too much walking for us.

My visit at Maris Grove went very good. The facility was nice, bright and cheerful. It was closer to my son and his family. Also I belonged to an organization and there's a chapter of that at Maris Grove, which would mean I would already have a built-in set of friends there, so that would be a plus. The staff were extremely nice and incredibly helpful. Another plus for this facility was that they would help you move and settle in, at least they advertised that service. The negative aspect of Maris Grove for me was that, though you can get a garage, there was an additional upfront fee for this. Also they only had a few garage available. So depending on where you are, you may have to go quite a distance to get to your car. They say they can assign a parking space outside, but if you're old and it's cold and it's raining and you want to go somewhere in your car, you don't want to have to walk across the parking lot. Another thing was that their grounds looked very institutional and I didn't get that homey feeling with it.
