Mom moved into Sterling Home last September. The place is nice and the rooms are decent. The only thing I have is that if you want a room with a bathroom, you have to pay more. If not, you have to use the community bathroom. I like the staff. They do care about the residents, and I've never seen them mistreat anyone. I know that my mother has never felt mistreated. As far as the services, they wash her clothes, make sure that she gets her meds, and they provide her with meals. I'm pretty much satisfied with the services that she receives. There are no activities going on there. They are indicating that most of the residents don't want to participate. The dining area is clean, but I think the selection could be better.

I am a nurse and know what its like to work with the elderly/dementia patients, and I was outraged at how our family was treated at this facility and outraged at the lack of safty for the residents, and mortified by the response of the owner. The door is accessable to residents and they wander in and out, the staff is at one end of the hall, in the kitchen, while they sit their dementia patients down the other end of the hall, that is not visable while they are in the kitchen, there is no call bell or camera system that they can keep a watch on patients. My grandma was left sitting in a saturated diaper every time I went to see her and when we would ask any questions of the staff we were yelled at by the staff and I was even asked once to "get outta their face" Sleeping pills are given at dinner time at 5pm, there is no nurse on duty and the owner only comes in for 1-2 hrs on a tuesday to do payroll. When we brought our frustrations to the owner, she defended her staff and I was told that they aren't "required" to speak to any family members. We were told we were not to talk to any other residents, and the day we moved my gram, the day was paid for she was left alone at the end of the room and ignored at dinner time, the other residents were taken to the dining area but my gram was not fed.
