My overall visit to Country Meadows Retirement Communities was good. I like this place the best. It fits the best for my mom. The staff was very nice. They were all very pleasant and very helpful. They would return phone calls right away, so that was good. Their rooms were a nice size for what she needed in personal care. I saw the residents having a group session in the one large room that they were sitting in. There were memory things on a white board, and they were engaged. They had a nice little courtyard area that you could walk around in that was all secure. They had places to do your hair and stuff. The menu looked good, but I did not try it.

My father has been at Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg for three to four months now. It's very family-oriented. They take care of them very well. He's got a living room and a separate bedroom, so it's almost like an apartment. They also have the two-bedroom and one room, and they come furnished. They have board games, puzzles, and different rooms in the facility to sit and talk with other guests. They have a courtyard and a barber. Depending upon your skill set, you can leave the building and then come back. It's not a locked-down place. They have several dining rooms in there to eat.

This facility is well taken care of, maintenance is performed in a timely manner. Staff are very nice and seam caring most of the time. The cleaning staff does a fairly good job in and out of rooms. There are several activity rooms and are well used by the residents. Management and nursing stay on top of things. I frequently get calls on mom's condition. My mother for the most part is very happy with the food and the dinning facility is nice and well kept.
All-in-all I and my mom are very happy with this facility. Everything is on one floor for the assisted living which makes it great for the older community.

My mom is now in Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg and she's in the assisted living or personal care. She hasn't been there more than a couple of months. They moved the room because when she first got in, they were rehabilitating her from a pelvis fracture. She was in a different room now which is just around the corner from the old one.
The community looks nice. They give you a better choice of food and the little campus and the courtyards are pretty. I seem to see a lot of the communities now are a little short on staffing, and I think the Country Meadows may have been short on staff a few times. Other than that, they do a great job.
Her room's square footage isn't that big, but it's roomy enough for her. She seems happy with it. They also have a sheet of activities that I could find online that they sent me. I know my mom has plenty of activities. There's a church or Bible studies, there's a van that can take you places if you need to, and they have different kinds of activities, like bocce ball and bingo.
It's an easy location if you know where it's at. It's also centrally located to where my sister and my two brothers live. The whole place looks nice from the outside. They do a good job on the inside too. Aesthetically, it looks good.

Every member of your staff was engaged, leaning in, and listening to the needs of our family , as well as the wishes of the patient (my god mother) with compassion and dignity. I would also like to recognize the remarkable care provided by the Hospice team of professionals for the extraordinary care provided at the end of our dear family members life.
it is reassuring to know that Country Meadows is part of our local community.

The past 60 days has been an overwhelming journey for our family as we navigated our parents hospitalizations, rehabilitations, moves from an independent living facility to assisted living at Country Meadows, and the eventual death of our father. It’s not an understatement to say that the staff at Country Meadows was outstanding every step of the way. The marketing team, the transportation drivers, the nursing staff, the kitchen personnel and maintenance staff are professional and kind in the way they interact with both residents and family. When it became clear that our father’s care needs were more at the level of a skilled nursing facility, Allie and Danielle worked with us to come up with a plan combining private duty and hospice care to allow him to return to Country Meadows from the rehab facility. His last week of life was spent with his wife rather than alone in another new facility. Just a week later, our mother was ready to move to a single room, and once again, the staff were on hand to arrange everything. We are thankful to everyone who is a part of the team.

My mother-in-law moved into Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg, and it's great. It fit our needs. The staff is very accommodating, spot on, and very patient with her. The dining area is beautiful; it's like living in a hotel.

My parents are in Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg. It's very nice, very clean, and very friendly. They both like their rooms, they love the food, they love the staff, and my mom kept saying over and over again how impressed she was that all of the staff members know every resident's name. They are in a large studio. They have an exercise room, a training center, a chapel, a beauty salon, a very nice dining room with cloth napkins and tablecloths, and they have 24/7 access to coffee, tea, juice, ice cream, and fresh fruits. They're in the independent living section. We tried their cookies and they were really good.

Country Meadows is an excellent, clean facility with a wonderful staff. The nurses are great and give good care. They have nice people.

Country Meadows was nice. It would have been my second choice, but the managers just seemed uppity, not down to earth.

We visited Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg. We didn't have any problems at all. Everybody was very helpful. They gave us brochures and fact sheets. They took us on a great tour through the area. The rooms were very nice, but we weren't interested in shared rooms. We wanted at minimum a studio. It was the closest to us because we live right off Trindle. They did have activities.

I work as a caregiver and frequently have clients that live in country meadows. I have had very poor experiences with the staff. There have been many times that I've been working with the staff and they have pulled me aside and talked poorly of my clients. A few months ago I had a client who passed out while on the toilet. The PCA who was assisting me told me to stand on the other side of the bathroom (as if I didn't know what I was doing) and tried to pick my client up on her own while she was unable to hold herself up. Anyone who knows this lady is aware that she is a two person assist. In the process the PCA dropped my client and slammed her head off of the wall. I mentioned going to get the nurse because my client was clearly hurt and the PCA told me absolutely not. There was no need for a nurse. She tried picking her up a second time and was able to do it. She threw my client in her wheel chair and pushed her out into her room. My shift was quickly approaching the end and I mentioned having someone sit with my nearly unconscious client. She told me no one had time for this and that someone would check on her when they had the time too. In conclusion I would not recommend country meadows to ANYBODY.

My parents moved in at Country Meadows about 3 years ago. We were very satisfied and that's why we decided to stay there. They are very happy with the staff and with the activities that are involved. They were in an independent-living and they had 2 rooms and recently moved into assisted living and they have just 1 room now. Having just one room met their needs so that was fine.
They're very happy with the quality of the food and the variety. They said if the portions were small, they just ask for more and they could get additional. They're not quite perfect but pretty close. I like the fact that they can go from one type of care to another just staying in the same community there. I would say the sanitation is excellent. They keep it looking very, very good.

Very disappointed in the care my father received while living at CM in the dementia unit. Lack of proper training of the PCA's, short staffed, kitchen and dining area for the residents very dirty, lost clothing and personal belongings, and the list goes on. One major factor one should consider before making a decision as to whether or not to reside at this facility is there is NO skilled nursing care. If you want your loved one to live there for the rest of their life, consider a facility with skilled nursing. Once you reach a certain level of care, especially in the dementia unit, your loved one will have to be moved to another facility with skilled nursing. This should be brought to the attention of potential residents/families who are looking for a place to call home. County Meadows did not meet our expectations in the care of our loved one.

I would first like to start by saying that Country Meadows is a beautiful facility. But, as most of us know, beauty is only skin deep. Since selling their home and moving to Country Meadows in October of 2012, my grandparents have had nothing but sub-par treatment from the staff. My grandmother is in Independent Living and my grandfather resides in the Alzheimer’s/dementia unit, being unable to care for himself anymore. My grandmother pays out roughly $7,000 a month for both she and my grandfather to stay there. For that kind of money, we expect the best care for my grandfather. We understand that nobody is perfect and that mistakes and accidents happen. We also understand that there are a lot of residents and that the dementia unit is understaffed and underpaid. What we don’t understand is when there are accidents and mistakes and my grandfather is receiving poor care, but all we are given from the staff are excuses and snide remarks from the CNAs. No one is willing to say sorry or take responsibility. Or take corrective action and work with my grandmother to make changes or improvements based on her needs and desires for my grandfather’s care. When mistakes repeatedly keep happening, some much more serious than others (such as my grandfather being sent on an outing with no underwear on, and then he had an accident) and my grandmother has meetings with the directors and other higher-ups about her concerns and still nothing gets done or resolved and poor excuses are still being given, then frustrations and tempers run high. These people are in charge of caring for and the safety of helpless dementia patients. Yet they brush off and disregard loved ones’ concerns, needs and basic wishes. It is their way or the highway. To me, that is not good care or cooperation. Over the course of the year and a half that my grandparents have been there, there have been numerous confrontations with staff members. Now, both of my grandparents are being evicted from Country Meadows on the grounds that my grandmother harassed staff members. She has never done such things. She is an 80-year-old woman with a heart condition. She is one of the most kind and selfless people that I know. She has high expectations at times, but she has never harassed anyone there. She has never threatened or used profane or derogatory language towards any staff member there. And yet she and my grandfather, who is helpless and does not know what is going on, are being given 30 days to pack their stuff and leave. These people are heartless and cruel. Do not send your elderly loved ones to live here.

My four sisters and I went to Country Meadows for my mother. This is one of the places that stood out for us. Their rooms were nice and very clean. Their food was great. We had a complimentary meal there and it was very nice. However, my mom is kind of a country girl and Country Meadows is more of a residential area. We thought that she would be more comfortable in a rural type of setting rather than this one.

The facility is run by outgoing and kind individuals, and there are a lot of daily activities for the residents but my grandfather has become ill several times as a direct result of the actions of the staff. He has contracted C Diff on multiple occasions due to treatment while a resident, even after repeated warnings from an outside RN.

Everything was wonderful! In fact, we wish my mother- in-law would've gone there. But right now, she's not ready and we can't do anything about it. We really liked the place! We know several people in the facility and they all love it. It's a neat and beautiful place, and they say the food there is wonderful, too. Well, we didn't get to taste it, but the people I know that live there says it is.

I was very impressed with the very clean facility and the bright and uplifting decor. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff was patient and kind. I could tell they like their jobs. The facility was well organized as the residents understood their recreational activities and schedule. Residents seemed to be happy interacting with each other. When I asked a resident their opinion of Country Meadows they explained it was much better than some of the places their peers attend and they are respected by the staff. Another resident told me the staff make a deliberate effort to understand the needs and wants of the residents. The staff appeared helpful to the residents and were quick to answer residents requests for service. Residents also appeared to be clean and well-kept. The outside of the building was beautiful and the greens were well tended. The building itself was painted nicely. I felt welcomed as a volunteer and would return to Country Meadows.

My mom has been a resident of Country Meadows for almost two years, living in their independent living building. She is 88 years old and in relatively good health. Her apartment is lovely, clean, and safe. The two meals a day which are provided are, for the most part, nutritious, appealing, and easy for her to consume. Transportation is provided twice a week to the supermarket, drugstore, and a small, local mall. Each trip is one hour, not quite adequate if a resident wants to shop for a pair of shoes or a gift. There are not really enough activities to stimulate an active mind. Most of the movies are old. The crafts offered are infrequent. There are very few large-print books in their collection, and bus trips to the library are infrequent. Outside speakers are infrequently invited there. The evenings are long and boring for many residents and, with supper served at 4:45, the evening is long and lonely. Sunday's are given over to visiting clergy. If a resident is not Christian or not religious, Sunday is just so lonely!
Thus, Country Meadows is clean and safe, with some caring staff; but, it is definitely not stimulating.

Nice facility. Clean and well kept. We were looking for more permanent housing and at the time when we were researching a facility for our father they were only offering temporary and transitional housing to get on a waiting list.
