Brookdale Roseburg was very nice. The administrator was extremely professional and very nice. I've had no bad reviews on the place at all. I know they sometimes take them out and about for different tours. If there's a parade, they'll take them to a parade. They were doing some exercise activities when I was there. They have crafts and things that they make with the residents. It was very clean.

I waited 3 months to write this review because I wanted to make sure the things I disliked about Brookdale weren't normal for ALL care centers. THEY AREN'T! In the 3 months my mom was there, they raised the price 3 times. Once was 500 a month to dress her but she was never in matching clothes, usually not her own, and frequently with shoes on the wrong feet and rarely with support stockings ordered by her doctor. Once I found her at the breakfast table crying because she was cold. She was in short silk pajamas bottoms (she doesn't own anything like that) in the winter time. Then there's the cleanliness issue. When the director is there its not bad but any other time, employees were scarce (usually in the break room), and the bathrooms were disgusting. On several occasions, we couldn't tolerate visiting long because the odor was unbearable. (once again the director wasn't there). On several occasions, we found men in her room, a couple of times in her bed and once pounding on her door from the inside (a patient that has a history of violence) and not a single employee to be found. My mom wanted her bed for a nap and couldn't even use it. The best thing we ever did for her was get her out of there and into a much better place that is day and night different from what Brookdale was. Sarah, the director seemed wonderful during our contact the few months leading up to putting my Mom there but it didn't take long to realize that wasn't what Brookdale was really like. She's now in a much better, cleaner, more caring place AND, its $2300 a month cheaper.

I liked Brookdale Roseburg because it allows the patients to get out and move around. There's a gate that keeps everybody in, and they got doors to go outside, so it's like they have more freedom, and that's very important. It's gated all the way around, and it's very nice and clean. They have support groups in the area and that type of thing. They understand dementia patients and they know better how to deal patients with dementia and Alzheimer's.

I've seen other facilities and Emeritus at Manor House is A-1 in comparison. It was absolutely awesome. The facility is beautiful, very clean, nice, light and airy. The staff is very nice and helpful. They got right back to me and they followed up. They continued to follow up with me and even brought me a little Christmas tree last Christmas. But they didn't have any room available.

The staff are very caring people and they train the new caregivers well. They always listen
to any request that is given and will address your concerns about your loved ones in the
facility. I recommend this facility to others looking for a place to put loved ones.
