This property was purchased about a year ago by Hawthorn. Since then, everything has dramatically declined. My parents were refused housekeeping for over three months (supposed to get weekly service), were displaced for 9 months due to a black mold issue and are currently experiencing a rodent problem. This organization can't keep employees - super high turnover that directly negatively impacts the residents. This company only cares about the bottom line - and clearly not the residents. Avoid this retirement facility at all cost!

I went to look at Parkrose Chateau. The front door was not accessible because it was out of order. I saw a one-bedroom apartment that looked like it was no bigger than the dorm room I had when I was in my first year of college. I wasn't impressed with the facility at all. We were supposed to have lunch, and the person forgot that we were supposed to have lunch, so that didn't happen, which wasn't a big deal, but I would expect people to remember that kind of thing. There would have been a little refrigerator in the room, but it wasn't there, and there were no other appliances. I would have had to bring a microwave. The staff was not very engaging with me and was kind of just busy with other things. It was my first tour, so I was very nervous and whatnot. I didn't feel a connection with that person.

I saw Parkrose Chateau, we were quite impressed with this facility. It's a beautiful place and everyone there was very engaging and helpful. The units that we saw looked impeccably clean and well-maintained; it's a beautiful facility. They went through all of the activities plus gave me a very comprehensive packet of information to bring home with me. They also gave me what looked like a whole week's menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They had all of the amenities plus an area to walk in outside, it's a very lovely setting The staff who gave the tour assisted me was Lesley, and she was very engaging, and helpful and made sure that all of our questions were answered. She took us throughout the facility, I was able to see everything there.

I have been to the Parkrose Chateau, and it was a nice place. They have cut down their bathtubs. I don't like a cut-down bathtub for a shower. But other than that, they had three meals a day. They had a dining area and a place where they put pastry, cookies, pudding, and stuff like that. The staff members that I met were great. I have a dog, and I took my dog there. He was able to go sit in the dining room right next to the table, but we were at a back table. So they accepted that, and it was great. We had lunch over there. I had shrimp, and it was great. They still have everything, but they're a 30-year-old building, and they get out of date.

Parkrose Chateau looked very nice. The tour was very nice. I got there a little after lunchtime and Leslie gave me lunch. We talked and we went and reviewed the studio that I was looking for. She showed me one that was outstanding, and I liked it a lot. They had all kinds of activities. The bus will take you out to a casino for gambling and then take you on viewing tours. It was very nice. They had the exercise room and the outside area. I didn't see a whole lot, but I saw balconies with barbecues on them for the chefs and I asked Leslie, "Can I bring my own meat and have them cook it for me?" She said, "Yeah, they'll do it for you," and I thought that was kinda cool. The staff during the tour was very nice, and the lunch I had was excellent. I'd give the facilities a four because of parking availability.

Highly recommend Parkrose Chateau for Senior Independent Living. Recent multi-year experience. Facility has some age on it but recent remodel/upgrades make it very accommodating and comfortable. Food is well-prepared with a good variety. Frequent activities and entertainment. High point of our friends' tenure there were the excellent Management and Staff. They are attentive, friendly, and appear to sincerely care for and about their residents.

My mom is in Parkrose Chateau Gracious Retirement Living. It is beautiful. The rooms there are good. They're studios and are small, but they're very nice. They have a dining area. They have a recreational area, and they have a laundry facility. The staff has been great so far. We've had just a little hiccup with not getting messages where they need to be; but otherwise they've been good. It's a good layout. It's bright, open, and very enticing for someone who is unsure. The dining area is adequate.

We've been to the Parkrose Chateau twice. My mom thought it was warm, friendly, and inviting. We feel like we're going to move in together. We feel like there's plenty of room for the two of us in a one bedroom. We'll have plenty of room for each of us to have our own space. They're good size apartments. The two-bedroom is huge, so a lot more space than we would need. They told us that whenever a resident moves out, they completely change carpet, linoleum, and countertop. From the way it sounds, the apartment will be brand new for the next residents. They have a library, game room, hair salon, and then there was this wonderful little thing that just looks like somebody's living room; it is a sitting room. They've got a van that can take you to appointments. They do outings, and they'll take you to the grocery stores. I think they're going to the beach in a couple of weeks, and they're having a luau pretty soon. They do have a little gym. They're pet friendly, and there's a lot of grass around. There are a lot of walking paths around the building that we're really looking forward to. It's not right in the middle of the city. It feels like it's very rural out there. So that's one thing we like, that it's not just the city stuff. The one thing that struck me is that it is very small. It's easy for older people that are in walkers and all that. It just doesn't feel like they have to walk very far to get to things like the dining room or other places. It's just very easy to access, I think.

I went to Parkrose Chateau. The experience was fine, the person that took us around was very pleasant, explained things very well, and I thought it was a great visit. I wasn't too impressed. I have a scooter, I like to go outside and use it, not just keep going around the building. Mainly there's no place to be except going around the building. I asked "OK if I wanted to go, like say to a store, is there anything close?" She said, "Well, we'll take you there." I would like something else that's more of interest going around while living there. I thought the staff was excellent. They did very well; they explained things very well. They had get-togethers, listening to the piano, or I guess some dancing, and that kind of thing. They seemed to have a lot of activities that you could go to.

Parkrose Chateau is great. It is a little larger than the other place. It is a nice place and nicely set up. The residents seemed very happy. However, you have to be there at the beginning of the meal or else you don't get anything to eat. Other places have a meal time and you can come anytime during that time, but at Parkrose Chateau you have to be there at the beginning. They really discourage the residents from coming to meals late. They have a moment of silence before they start serving and you're supposed to be there for the moment of silence. They have very big Wii bowling. They play against other communities, which I thought was interesting. They were doing a chili cook-out for the Super Bowl which sounded like fun. They try to keep their residents engaged. The place is bigger and so they can do more. I took my mom there and she thought the food was good.

My mother moved into Portland, and it's been a little rough, but we're committed for 3 months. She has a great room at Parkrose Chateau. The bath tub is not great for her, she slipped so I had to get a mat, and she had a hard time with that. The people there are great and they're trying their best, but her biggest complain is the food. They use a lot of pork, the meat is hard, she has trouble chewing, the food is salty, and they also have spicy food. It's very reasonable, and we love the location.

We chose Parkrose Chateau for my mom. Our overall experience when we toured was really good. The staff was really helpful and informative, they're great, and the place looks really nice. The rooms we saw were really presented nicely, and the size is perfect for Mom. The dining area also looked nice; when you walk in the door, it's located to the right. I haven't eaten there, but it seems more like a restaurant. They have amenities like a gym, there are different areas where they can read or use the computer, and when I went there I saw many residents in a resident meeting or playing a game. So far, Nick has been very helpful, and he's the only staff member I met so far aside from one of the drivers who was also very nice and introduced himself to me. The grounds are very nice, the place is really clean, and the atmosphere is very nice.

Parkrose Chateau was very beautiful. It was lovely. The rooms were very clean, roomy and pleasant. The windows were nice. They had a big celebration and they had an Elvis impersonation. Everybody was dressed up in nice casual wear. They had music; it was very good. They had a very nice library, a game room, and a nice sitting room. The staff was above excellent. They were just superb. The circular driveway was very regal, very nice, and very pleasant. The place was clean, nice, and very secured with nice entrance and nice reception when you first walk in.

When we went to Parkrose Chateau, they were able to show us the apartment, and the rooms were a good size. They seemed perfect. The staff was very nice. The dining area is very nice, and they don't have any assigned seats. I was able to eat there, and the food is OK. I also saw some activities going on.

Parkrose Chateau is very nice, and when you drive in, there’s an open atrium. When you walk in, there’s beautiful carpeting, and chandeliers up in the hall. They have very nice people. The room was a bit smaller, but it had a big window, one big wall to wall closet, a nice big bathroom, and a lot of cupboards. There was a theater there, some activities, and a sale going on.

Parkrose Chateau was very nice. I like the idea of independent living all the way up to, heaven forbid, nursing care. The grounds were beautiful, and the staff seemed friendly. We didn't eat, but the menu looked delicious. The residents looked happy. It's a place I could call home. They have some exercise programs, outings, newspapers to read, movies, and companionship.

I am living in Parkrose Chateau, an independent senior living with different apartments. I have a nice big one-bedroom apartment with a little kitchenette. The facility has a huge dining room that serves good meals. I have only been here for 10 days, so it very new as I get accustomed to the place. The residents are very nice.

I went to Parkrose Chateau. It was a very fine place. I met with one of the sales people who showed me around and explained how things were working. She was very kind and very helpful. I had a fine lunch. The facility had nice landscapes. I didn’t see many activities of a physical nature, but they seemed to have a room or two where they do activities.
