BEWARE before housing your loved ones here!! My Grandmother lives here and she has the past few years.. Yesterday she had to make a visit to the ER because the night before last she fell in her bathroom, she hit her panic button and no one came... For TWELVE HOURS she laid on the floor pushing that button! All night long and not a single person noticed or checked on her. When they came on shift in the morning, STILL no one noticed right away. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. It would be one thing if this was the first time it happened but it wasn't! She had also fallen once before and spent an entire hour on the floor pushing her button! These people don't care about your cherished loved ones they only care about the bottom line. If you're in the market, consider looking elsewhere where your family can get the care they need and deserve.

Friendsview is a Christian community and we liked that. We liked the atmosphere of the facility. I've eaten there several times and we liked the food. There wasn’t much that we didn’t like about this facility. They have a variety of different size homes or apartments to select. Their prices were reasonable than some others that we had looked at and they have the ongoing care.

A Satisfied Son!

My parents have been residents for many years, beginning in independent living and now in assisted care. I live in New York and can only see them a few times each year. They are cared for very well and are always happy. They comment frequently about the kindness of the staff and enjoy the other residents.

Every time we visited the staff was courteous and helpful. The facility was always clean and orderly including any of the residents' rooms that we visited. Outdoor areas are always well cared for and beautiful; including the walking paths which provide a great opportunity for exercise and a change of scenery. We have eaten different meals there and always found the dining area clean and well organized and the food to be good. The facility even catered a meal for a group of ours when we were having a memorial service and they provided a private dining area so that we could sit together, reminisce, and not bother the residents. They were very accommodating. We usually called ahead to let them know that we were coming and this is a practice I have always recommended - but I don't think that it is necessary. This may be part of why our experience has always been favorable. There always seems to be a full calendar of special events and it seems as if the nearby college is well involved with student groups visiting from time to time and providing services and entertainment. The college is a great asset as it is just across the street and provides other opportunities for exercise, sight-seeing, as well as concerts and theater events. Great location! Newberg is a quiet and charming little town too!

We are retiring from a ranch life in Colorado and we looked at few other facilities and this is the one that we chose for different reasons. The major reason for this decision is because it's near our 3 grandchildren, son-in-law and our daughter. In a retirement community, you will be with people your age and it's nice to have some younger people visit you in the area. We also chose this place because my wife likes to have a little grass around for gardening. We got a house that is part of a duplex and its rights across from the green from the main community center. The third reason is that the food is really good. The best that we found among the facilities that we visited. The staff there is accommodating and the sales manager was very helpful and even went to lunch with us. The room is not that big. We are just a couple and I personally do not think we need a very spacious place. What is important is that it has all the things that we need.

I lived in the above community for seven years and was a 24/7 caregiver for my wife for three of those years. The facility is well run with a Health Center for those who need semi-skilled care and many opportunites for enjoyable activities. However the initial cost of an entrace fee (non-returnable) and the monthly costs continue to increase. It seemed wise for me to move out as my finances were being used up more rapidly than was feasable even though it meant I would loose the $150,000 entrance fee.
