My friend has moved into Marquis Hope Village. It's a beautiful and wonderful place to live. The people that work there are amazing. Everybody is so kind and friendly, and it's a great place. The food is really good. The dining area is beautiful, open, airy, and friendly. They have lots of activities. They go for drives in the country. They go out to the grocery stores once a week. They have donuts and coffee on Friday mornings. They play bingo every Tuesday. The ladies can get their nails done once a week. There are puzzles and TV. They can sit and exercise in the morning in the loft area. There is something every day.

There is way too many residents per staff member. The staff are stressed and the residents have to wait too long to receive care. Nearly 75 residents per 1 med aide, which could be dangerous.

We found Hope Village in Canby, OR and put money down on it, but it has a long waiting list. It has assisted living and a nursing home, each run by different groups of people. They’re nice little homes. You pay $500 or $600 a month for taxes, and you don’t have to do any hard work if something breaks; they take care of everything, and you don’t have to worry about getting service people to do the work that you can’t do. Where we are now, we’re hiring to get everything done. I’ve been researching and this place is like a halfway point where you can still pretty much take care of yourself. You’re in a community where they have services and buses to take you places or to your doctor. It’s that expensive as far as you buy the house and get part of your money back. The houses are really cute; they’re light, contemporary, and not too big. It’s in our income bracket and very well kept, clean, and very well run.

I didn't like Marquis Care because it is too large. They have too many people and less staff. The rooms and apartments are too small. It takes the residents too long before they can have dinner. The staff's work ethics are good. They try very hard to do their job.

The woman who guided us through Marquis at Hope Village was very knowledgeable and friendly, and she went out of her way to make sure that we have all the information we needed before making a decision. We looked at a 1-bedroom apartment, and then we went to a 2-bedroom. They have a library, they have activities, they get together and do jigsaw puzzles and cards, and there's a TV if they want to watch with other people instead of by themselves in their apartment. They could add about 20 more apartments, but it seemed like a very nice place.

The staff seemed sparce. You never really saw many employees walking around. The maintenance man was very rude to my grandmother who had issues with her phone and television. The food was edible but nothing to write home about. The facility is very nice looking inside and out.
