Manager needs to make herself available to resolve issues

The Facility is Clean, the Staff are friendly, my concern is with the management. Someone is neglecting adequate staffing. I was leaving when another patient called me and said "I need a nurse", so instead of leaving, I walked over to the Nurses station where there was a screen showing which call buttons were on. The one for this patient was beeping and had been on for 15 minutes. I was informed by a staff person that the caregivers were with another patient, but this person made no effort to go answer the call button. evidently there were only 2 actual caregivers on that level. This was not the first time I observed a long wait for an answer to the call button. When my loved one was first admitted they waited and waited for someone to come. At that time I verbally told them that this was inexcusable, every patient should be checked on at LEAST once an hour. The food is often cold when it gets to the room with no attempt to warm it even though there is a microwave in the dining area. I have a medical background and the patient care is very poor. As I said, this is a sign of poor management. I don't blame the underpaid lower echelon staff, but management is definitely guilty. The best I can say is the Staff are friendly and the place is clean.

I recently moved my parents into this building, and they absolutely love it there. It's great for my father because there is a large group of male residents, and Laurelhurst Village provides them with activities, socials, and other things that they are interested in. My mother loves it there because she really likes the cooking and the women's inter-generational choir that she participates in there. As their child, I picked this location as one of my top choices because they have all levels of care that my parents might need all in one campus. I'm so happy to know that I will not have to move them again, and that they are so well taken care of there. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Laurelhurst is a smaller place, but it was very nice with good pricing.

I took a tour of a senior assisted living home that my friend works at. She showed me around the place and introduced me to some of the residents and nurses. Everyone was very nice, although some seniors didn't seem too happy to be there. Most of them were though and many of them were very sweet. The nurses seem like they work very hard to keep the place clean and in working order. The rooms were tidy and clean and there was always a nurse nearby. The food did not look all that appetizing to me, but I guess it is better than some places. I noticed that there was a distinct smell to the place too probably because there are a lot of elders around plus it is a senior assisted living home, just like how most hospitals have that certain smell to them. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to any one who was looking for a senior home because from the experience I had there, it seems like a nice place to stay.
