The Prestige Senior Living Orchard Heights in Salem was my first choice for my mom. They gave me a tour and what I liked about the lady who gave me the tour was that she's not pushy trying to sell you. I told her I decided to get in-home care at this time but to keep me on the list and call every 6 months to verify if something has changed and that's what she had done. She called once since then so it's not a pushy thing. I visited the assisted living side. They had the elevators and everything but I couldn't remember if the rooms were on the 1st or 2nd floor. The thing I liked about the location is that it's smaller and it was just a mile from my mom's present house. It wouldn't be a big location change for her or anything like that. What I saw and everything would be very good.

My Mom was given amazing care at this facility. I was sorry when my Mom passed on after being on hospice, as I really miss the wonderful, caring staff at Orchard Heights.

My mom has moved into assisted living at Prestige Senior Living Orchard Heights. The care has been wonderful and they've really helped me with Mom. The community has a lot of older people who are declining, but my mom is very much enjoying it. She's got a beautiful room with a beautiful view. She's not really crazy about the food sometimes but then her taste buds are changing, but I'm very pleased with it and the communication everybody has with me. They're also going to transition to find the right cook. They have a lot of activities every day. Mom hasn't been able to go to any because she's been sick, but she likes the live Christian music which they bring in each week. There's a washer and dryer on the next floor to do their clothes. They have a wonderful backyard to wander out in and also Mom is able to keep her dog there which is great, and the staff takes her dog out for her since she can't. She feels very much at home. The place doesn't have the best look when you walk in, but then you take the elevator up to the first floor and it's very nice. They have the most gorgeous and beautiful restaurant area there, with two-floor ceilings all around on two side with beautiful views, and it's very light and cheery. That room is amazing. They also have wonderful little seating areas everywhere.

I really liked Prestige Senior Living Orchard Heights. If my dad had been living in West Salem or close to that, I'd probably pick this one. I'm impressed that I didn't get a sell job. I got the facts. I got what they did, what they didn't do, their advice to me, how can we help you, if this is a fit, and what is it we need, and they asked me logical questions. They kept in touch, but they weren't pressuring me to do stuff. They're very honest about what they do, how they do it, and what the situation is. They're the type of people you like to work with. The staff is great. I really liked the manager. He's a great guy. They have a memory center. The rooms were really nice. They have 1-bedrooms, large 1-bedrooms, and studios, but only the large room was available, and it's noticeably more money, which didn't fit in my dad's finances. Otherwise, I would've picked it. The facility was great.

Prestige Senior Living Orchard Heights was a good place. It was a little bit hard to find where I was going because the main door was misplaced. The staff was fine. The appearance and the cleanliness of the place were very nice. The dining area seemed to be very nice.

The food is good. When don't feel like coming to the dining room, they bring it to me in my apartment. The caregivers and staff are very attentive, and the residents are all nice. The place is always clean- I feel like I am living 1st class.

We had a nice visit at Prestige Senior Living at Orchard Heights. However, nobody was there to greet us, which was a little confusing because they said there would be. We found our way upstairs and got a lady to come and speak with us. They sat us on a lunch table because we were supposed to have lunch with them. She talked to us for a little while and was very friendly, very nice, and very helpful. Then she had to go because she had something she had to do, so they forgot about us for lunch. She came back and asked if we had eaten and we said no because nobody came to serve us, so she got somebody to serve us, and the food was OK. It was a pretty good experience. It was a nice place. One worker came up and said “Hello.” My concern was with the caregiver ratio. A lady will be coming out here next week to do an evaluation on my mom, so we would see how much it would cost. The dining room was very nice. The building itself was nice. The room they showed us was a very small one-bedroom on the main floor, but because of how the place was situated, it was kind of dark. It felt like you were underground even though you weren’t. However, it was really clean and did not have a bad smell.

My parents are living at Prestige Orchard Heights. The facility is nice and clean. People are very caring and nice. They seem to care about the people there and try to take care of the residents as much as they can. I see how they care for the facility and the people. I have had lunch there, and the food is really good. They have a good variety of foods like beef, chicken, fish, rice, tomatoes, and nice salads. They do laundry for the residents if the residents want it. Also, they clean the rooms once a week, so pretty much everything is taken care of. I haven't seen anything that would give me pause as far as taking care of the people is concerned. The bottom floor is memory care. The top three floors are for everybody else, and they can come and go as they please. There are some things that the facility could probably do a little better. The facility is not new, but they've kept it up really nicely. The walls are nicely painted, and the building seems to be in pretty good shape.

Prestige Senior Living is a very nice place. We didn't choose that because it is assisted living, and my mother doesn't need that yet. The rooms are really nice. It is very spacious too. The dining room is nice looking and very welcoming. I am very impressed with that place. The staff that assisted us was very nice and very pleasant. All the places we visited have very helpful staff. I like the grounds, and I like that they have a lot of park type settings. It is very welcoming.

Administration repeatedly made commitments but never followed through. Caregivers were not properly trained. Very high amount of employee turnover, The turnover was not limited to just caregivers, supervisory positions also changed frequently. Very little onsite nurse support, despite claims of having two nurses on staff. My parent's bed was soaked with urine and nothing was done about it.

Prestige Senior has assisted and memory care, but we were only interested for memory care. We came across this facility via recommendation by another individual. The environment appeared to be pretty good in the facility but the parking was horrible. There was no place to park for visitors except walking about half a block. The food appeared to be good, but the responsiveness of the administration was horrible. We asked for a call back; we didn’t get it, I sent an email didn’t get any response, and when I finally got hold of the person, I found out that the individual who was working with us had quit. The activities are pretty much the same with the other facility I went to. We were not satisfied with the administration response, so they must improve on that and trying to keep the same people working there. My impression when we drove into it was -- where are we going to park?

Orchard Heights was pretty good. The facility was very clean and it was remodeled. I like the staff because they're very friendly. However, they're a little bit short at times. They need more staffing. The food was pretty decent. I would recommend this place because overall they're pretty good.

When I was a sophomore in high school I decided to gain some experience and volunteer. I choose this retirement home because it was close to home and I have always wanted to experience working with elders. The facility is beautiful. The rooms are very spacious for each resident and they are able to have a large open area to either sit and talk with other residents, play a game or just relax. Another thing that's really great about this facility is the food. The food is way more than I expected. 3 course meals and always a little dessert. The staff are hard working and always make the residents feel comfortable and tended too. If I ever needed to go into a retirement home I would choose that one.

There was a lot of change at Orchard Heights. While my family member lived there administrators changed twice. There is also a high turnover of employees. These things are to be expected to some degree at an assisted living home as the nature of the work is challenging, however, the amount of change at this facility causes care to lower in quality. My family was pleased with their sizeable room, but frustrated with services. We applaud all individuals working in this line of work.
