We just moved my mom into Gateway Living. It's a unique set-up because they have several buildings and each building houses about 14 people. It is really quite nice. The rooms are small, but freshly painted, clean, and carpeted. There are individual and shared rooms. They have a common area where they have a living room, a kitchen, and a dining room. There's also an outside area where people can go out and sit. They provide activities, meals, and whatever level of care residents need. They take people places when they want to go places. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. I've looked at about four other places and this one was a little more reasonably priced.

My mom has been at Gateway Living for about three months now. So far, we are pretty satisfied and happy that she is there. The overall feeling is more like a home. They are all houses, and each house has 14 people. I really like the staff. I have eaten there, and sometimes the food is not as good as I hoped it would be, but other times it’s very good. It would be nice if they had more choices because they don’t have a lot of choice now. We tried to get her to participate to their activities, but she has not yet.

I'm looking at Gateway Living for my wife. I would choose it because it has small residential units that are limited in the number of people in each unit rather than having one large hotel-size unit. My wife would get confused if she's in a large facility. They were nice, clean, and responsible people. They were able to give us reasonable assurance that she would be in an assisted living and not memory care at least at this point which we wanted. She would have more opportunity to make friends and develop relationship with the people there. I felt the staff are knowledgeable. Some of the people that I talked to had been there for a reasonable amount of time. They told me that they try to prevent turnovers with the regards to the staff and so we thought that was important. I don’t really recall all the particulars that they offer as far as the activities, but they have a calendar of activities and I can see that there is something going on every day and sometimes twice a day.
