Brookdale Tulsa South is nice. There are friendly people that help you, it's a great place. My apartment has a bath with a shower, and a little kitchen area with a refrigerator and microwave. And then in the bedroom, there's a small living room with a TV and a recliner chair. The staff is great and the food is fair, they serve three meals a day. They had a happy hour once a week, and they serve juice and sweets. They provide physical therapy classes and they play bingo twice a week. They've got a courtyard.

I toured Brookdale Tulsa South. I would not take my dad there ever, because it felt like a nursing home and it smelled funny. But the people there, the staff seemed to care about their residents and they were wonderful. The staff was excellent. They have activities like puzzles, games, movies and things like that. The facilities needed serious updating.

Brookdale Tulsa South is friendly, clean, and responsive. It's assisted living and my mother has been there since February. We like the friendliness, the cleanliness, and how they respond to her needs. What I don't like is probably that it's too hot in there. They keep the temperature too hot. The staff is very responsive, very friendly, very polite, and addresses our needs. I would say the food is pretty good too. For activities, they play games, they do puzzles, play chess checkers, they do art and poems.

My mom moved into Brookdale Tulsa South. The people are more professional. The facility is better. Everything is nice. I'm particularly impressed with the management and caring attitude of the employees. The services are good. It's difficult providing services for my incontinent mother, who has legs that don't work and needs attention often, but they do a good job. My mother said their food is good and plentiful. Compared to other facilities, it is priced comparably. There have been a few issues because of lack of training and turnover, but it's pretty good. It's really expensive, but compared to other facilities, it's excellent or good.

We went to look at Brookdale Tulsa South. The building was nice. It had a porch out front. It does have a locked door, so everybody has to get through that front and door. It was kind of in a square in the middle of the square. The people that live there could go outside, but they couldn't walk away from the building. To me, it was very secure and kind of out by itself. There were some other commercial buildings around it, but it's a little south out there in Tulsa. It was nice and clean. The people were friendly. They had games, activities, and dinner. They had a fireplace and a little place they could come sit, read books, and stuff like that. I saw there was one lady there that was doing a puzzle, we talked to her a little bit, and she was very friendly. They had a special TV in a room where they had movies, and most of the time, people were just visiting. They explained everything and gave us paperwork so we could keep and make notes. They were very thorough and very willing to help. I thought it was a better arrangement for the people where they didn't seem like they were in such an institution. This place, they said that you could take your loved one out, and then bring them back, and stuff. So I just thought it was kind of probably a good little community to be an easy way to get somebody in, as opposed to the other places.

I got a nice tour of Brookdale Tulsa South. They have reasonable rooms and a very capable director. She explained a lot of things to me and even if we don't decide to go there, she helped me with financing. They charge for additional care like helping with the medication, putting shoes on, and personal care. It was the smallest one I visited in the Tulsa area, which I like because you get more attention than you would in bigger places. They have group activities and there was a musical presentation when I was there. They have a common area, a game area, outside activities, and an inside courtyard surrounded by a building that had a few ducks. Everybody was pleasant, which was why I had a good feeling about the place.

My experience at Brookdale Tulsa South has been good. The staff is wonderful. My room is small but it's OK. The dining area is very nice. We have bingo, crossword puzzles, and outings. They have somebody come by and play music as well as sing to us.

Brookdale Tulsa South was nice. We just felt it was more like a nursing home facility. The rooms we saw were smaller than where my mother is now and the place had that certain smell about it.

I found Brookdale Tulsa South for my mom. It has a good blend of people that they accept. Some of the other places my sister and I looked at either had people who were really off the deep into memory care or just happy, healthy, pretty high-functioning seniors. This community had a place for somebody who fits in the middle. The staff seemed very upbeat and very helpful when I've spoken with them on the phone or in person. We liked it the best out of all the places that we interviewed.

We moved my brother-in-law, Earl, to Sterling House. He's really happy. It's very nice and we like it much better. He's in a room all by himself. It's furnished and has everything you need. He gets 3 meals a day, too. They have nice staff. He had an emergency about 2 weeks ago. He fell and hurt his hip. But he was well taken care of. They took him to the hospital about 2 miles away and had x-rays taken. I would definitely recommend them. There are not too many houses right around the area where it's located, but it's a very nice area. However, we would love for there to be parking a lot closer to the facility. I'm handicapped myself and I use a walker. It would be kind of convenient for us to park and walk to the front door.

I visited Sterling House and I liked that place. It was nice, clean, cozy and you would feel very at home. I liked the safety features for the older residents there. The rooms seemed spacious and I did like the safety cord. The residents were high risk and I liked the fact that they could pull the safety cord and if they were in trouble, the staff would come in and checked on them throughout the night to make sure they were okay. It seemed like an all right place to be. However, I went on a weekend. So I felt like they were slightly understaffed but I was not sure if they had other people. The residents didn't seem active they were just sitting there. Also, here in Oklahoma we experience inclement weather and they did not have any backup generators to kick in. They actually had to physically move the residents to different facilities or hotels and I was concerned about that. So, that is why I ultimately didn't choose that place.

The Sterling House facility itself was very nice but it was more concerned about filling up the space than about the condition of my dad or my needs. They were totally driven by the sale and it turned me completely off.

We visited Sterling House and saw that the rooms were very nice. The staff that we talked to was very knowledgeable, friendly and caring. We didn't eat there but the dining room looked very organized and very clean. We got a copy of their internal newspaper and it was also very nice. I would recommend this facility to others.

We went to see Sterling House and talked to the marketing director. We asked them questions and get some information from them. We also looked at a couple of rooms they had. It's a very nice place, although it's smaller than I expected. My dad is 91 and he has limited mobility, so he's not a really active person. But he likes to do things. They have bingo, they do outings from time to time, or go to malls.

The Admin / Operator will promise you anything to get your loved one in the door as they get $$ bonus for new residents. They do not keep the rooms clean, lots of fights between residents that live there I saw the med aid setting up medications for distributions having a personal conversation on her cell phone while setting up the medications. I reported it and they defended the med girl! My loved ones medications are still full but when I reported that they told me the pharmacy sent more that they should have! I pay for the medications so I know how much was sent and it sure was not more than what was ordered, I mean if anyone knows of a pharmacy that sends free meds please let me know so I can go there!! Be sure and ask to count their medications monthly! They do not give first aide here for a small cut, they just want to call Emsa and ship them out **Ala Cart pricing "“ run as fast as you can from this type of pricing. Average cost in Tulsa for Assisted Living is $3,500. Our invoices fluctuated from $3,500.00 to $5000.00 as time, once without notice! Family members of other residents have similar stories. I have moved my Loved one.

This is a great place. They have a nurse on staff 7 days a week (one of the nurses has been there for over 6 years) and their director has been with the company for over 7 years. Activities were great and so were all the other employees. CNAs are trouble areas, but that is true most anywhere. Residents seemed happy. Residents seemed like they were requiring a high level of care compared to other assisted livings, great alternative to a nursing home in my opinion.

My mother, age 93 in a hospice program until just recently, was a resident of the Sterling House from about April of 2010 to the middle of November 2011. We chose this facility because it appeared to be a nice facility with the services we required and we were told by an acquaintance who was also a part-time employee of the Sterling House, and The Sterling House management that they had only asked 2 people to leave since they had been open, one because the resident required a tube feeding and the other was an aggressive male that was problematic. Not having to move my mother was very important to me as this would very traumatic for my mother. We were asked to move my mother early in September of this year because if / when she has fallen it takes 3 to get her off the floor. Needless to say, this was very disappointing to say the least. Other issues include: 1. Medications "“ one of the employees setting up medications for distributions was observed by my brother once and my brother and me on another occasion having a personal conversation on her cell phone while setting up the medications. 2. The doctor that was contracted to serve the facility was unavailable to speak with for over 2 weeks. No one else was covering or him. 3. Ala Cart pricing "“ run as fast as you can from this type of pricing. Average cost in Tulsa for Assisted Living is $4000. Our invoices fluctuated from $4000 to $6000 as time, once without notice. Family members of other residents have similar stories. I can only take their word for it, I haven't seen their invoices. 4. Salon Services "“ We requested her hair be done every week. Couldn't get this to happen, management and hairdresser each pointing the finger to the other one. 5. Newspaper "“ For those who subscribed to the newspaper, the paper was delivered to the office to be distributed to the residents. This seldom got done, I finally canceled the paper. The good news is, she has now been moved and is actually doing much better than expected, getting more attention, requiring less services, out of hospice and for less money.
