My mom was at Westhaven for 2 months in the Skilled Nursing Wing. Some of the RNs at this facility do not know how to recognize the signs of low blood sugar in a diabetic patient nor do they understand what to do for a diabetic patient when his/her blood sugar drops below 70. I got a call on 9pm on Nov 25, 2020 at which time the RN on duty called to tell me that my mom was going down hill. That she was very "out of it" and we foaming at the mouth, She wanted to know if I wanted her to call an ambulance or come hold my mom's hand! After some questioning by me, I told her to call an ambulance. If I hadn't my mom would gone into a diabetic coma and died.

Mom was at Westhaven Nursing Home for about three months, and then since she has progressed, we were able to take her home now. The CNA's were some of the best CNA's I've ever met. They were phenomenal. The building itself did not smell, and that was extremely nice. I like that a while lot. I really was very happy with everyone's service. My mom was in a private room. With their activities, I know they play lots of games. They also have a piano where they can play with it. They also planted flowers and decorated some pots, so they do have activities.

A relative was at Westhaven Nursing Home; I visited him four times. The people there and the facility itself were fairly clean. The food was fine. The room was adequate. He has dementia, so it was fine. But, he did start to get out the door. I was not real pleased with how it was handled. They basically said: "You have to pay for someone to sit with him around the clock until you can get him out of here because we can't keep him anymore." It was a VERY difficult situation. We had to transfer him; we didn't have a choice.
