We were very impressed with Northhaven Place. It was clean. We just didn't think it was the right facility for my brother-in-law at this time after he was evaluated. It was a secure area for him. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were nice. The staff who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. The rooms look like they would be very adequate for what we were looking for. They were clean, attractive, and well-kept.

I toured Northhaven Place. It was a small community, but very nice and homey. The staff who assisted me with the tour was very nice and knowledgeable. The rooms were very nice. They were not large but they had a very good size. The dining area was kind of on the small side, but it was clean. They had different games and exercises.

We chose Northhaven Place for dad because we felt like the staff there were people we could trust. The executive director and the other person I met were easy to work with. They were friendly, and my dad likes the food that they serve. At times, they just don't seem to be very organized. They didn't let us move in on the day that they told us they would, and that caused us a few problems. He still has problems getting his cable television too for some reason. They can't figure out how to fix it.
They offer a good number of activities though. He hasn't participated in them so far, but they do physical therapy with him. The place is clean, but the climate control system is pretty loud. I had to get my dad some earplugs because when it turns on, it's pretty loud. The walk-in shower water comes out on the floor quite a bit. Maybe they're all like this, but we have to put towels down on the floor to prevent water from leaking into the rest of the bathroom.

Northhaven Place was a nice community. It was very relaxing, just a really good family vibe. Everyone was very welcoming and very nice. It just seemed like a pretty good place to live. I wanted to live there. Everyone was very helpful, very talkative, and very nice. From the staff, you didn't feel any pressure. They just left it up to you. They just wanted to show you what they have and what they offer and if you pick them, that's great, and if you don't, there's no hard feeling. They weren't trying to sell you on the place. It was nice.
As soon as you walk in, everything is so nice, clean, and very well decorated. There was no weird kind of hospital or nursing home-like smell. It just smelled like a good clean home. They will clean their rooms for them. They always go out and do activities. They go shopping, they go to the movies or they go out to eat. They always do something cool like that. Inside, they always have activities going on like some kind of party and people get together playing games. They gave me some cookies they made, and the cookies were amazing.

I felt like Northhaven Place was more like a nursing home type of place. It didn't seem like there were a whole lot of activities or anything. The rooms were standard, but they were clean and nice, then they had a salon, a library, and transportation services. The director was very nice and helpful too. It was also well decorated.

I liked that Northhaven Place wasn't really big and everything was on one level and that it was like a big circle. The inner garden is beautiful. If somebody could walk well enough or get rolled, they could go outside. And I also liked that they can age in place there, all the way up to the nursing home level, so they wouldn't have to transfer to a nursing home. So long as they came in as assisted living, they could age in the place. That's what I liked about that place. The staff that we met was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, and could answer all my questions. She was able to take me on tours. Someone might think that the diner is small, but it's a small place. It's a great dining room. The facility itself is an older establishment.

I went to Northhaven Place Assisted Living. There were more activities there, as far as people doing games, card games, and stuff. I think there were only twenty seven rooms. I was under impressed. It was clean and everything, but it was older.

My boyfriend stayed at Northhaven Place under special circumstances. It was a really good place, it was really clean, and the staff there was amazing. I recommend that place. They were really good. For the time that we were there it was pretty amazing. Their staff looked happy and they were really good with the residents from what we saw. I loved the maintenance guy. He was amazing, and he was always right on top of everything.
I heard their food was pretty good, but I did not see it. We got to go in and help set up his room, and they even helped us unload the truck when we brought in the furniture. They helped us when we brought in the bedframe. The maintenance guy helped us set it up and he was right on top of everything if we needed anything. If we needed help maintenance wise he was right there. They were really good to us. They helped us out. It was a really good experience even though it was under special circumstances. We were very grateful to them. He was only there for a little bit, but we worked with them for a month. He played Yahtzee, and we did get to see that. He played a few games with a few people, so that was really nice to see.

It impressed me; I would highly recommend it for my brother. For the lady that I talked with, her husband and my husband worked together years ago, which made me even more comfortable to hear because it felt like home. I saw one room, which would be ideal for him. Everyone was very professional and very friendly. If we had to pick a place, that would be the one that I would take him to go see.

I didn’t care for it as much. They used dark brown for their interior, and I didn’t see a lot of interaction with people. There were some people sitting in the dining area; nobody seemed to be talking to one another.

We like it, and it is a secure facility. In the other facility that our father was in, he was kind of wandering off into the parking lot. So now, he is in a secure facility where you have to have a code and you have to punch in the code before the front door will open and you can't normally go out if you don't punch in the code. It is a nice facility and the staff members are really good and very attentive. They basically keep us updated in his care and how things change, and then also just making sure that his daily basic needs are clean, so when we go and visit, his room is clean, his bathroom is clean, and he appears to be thoroughly clean. They have a lot of activities and things going on. They play dominoes, there are different arts and crafts things for them to do, and of course they have a little music room, so if somebody wants to play the piano, they can all sit and sing there, and they had a violin player came in right after dinner and stuff like that.
The rooms are a nice size; they are big, spacious, and nice. He has like a little living area and then a bedroom. The food is really good, and their dining room is nice. They have tablecloths on the table, everything is really clean, and they have flowers and stuff. They have a barber shop in there where they cut his hair, and everything is right there in the facility, and so we just pay them every month to cut his hair and stuff, which is really nice because in a way we don't have to go get him and take him to his barber shop because they take care of that in-house.
Maybe they could freshen it up a little bit sometimes, because even though it is clean or it looks clean, it doesn't always smell great.
For my dear mother

My 90 year old mother has lived there for three years and has EXCELLENT care! I count it a blessing that I found this place. It came highly recommended by a person who deals with facilities like this routinely. She enjoys the food and says the staff all love HER. Her apartment size is more than adequate. People saying it's small clearly are just looking for another apartment for their family member. We are very happy and pleased with the facility and staff.

I visited and I thought the rooms were very small. I didn't like it. I did check the list of activities and it was near the list of activities that I had at other facility. I didn't like the size of the rooms and the way it was laid out. It wasn't conducive to what I wanted. The people I talked to were wonderful. They were good salesmen. It's just that they didn't have the product that I was really looking for.

I went and I didn’t see much interaction between the residents and the staff. Nobody was smiling. The rooms and the apartments were fine. I didn’t see anything going on.

My 91-yr. old mother has resided here for 7 months. She LOVES it!! The staff is exceptional -- always willing to help out. The food is made fresh every day. If there are special needs for the residents, they will meet those needs (dementia, giving meds). There are 35 rooms (apts.), different sizes, and all are on the ground floor. There are activities (exercise class, jigsaw puzzles, bingo, etc. The staff encourages residents to participate, but you are not made to participate.
