My tour at Elison Independent Living of Statesman Club was a very good experience. The sales manager was very accommodating. I saw a lot of what they are doing. They were very impressive. I saw their activities, the rooms, and a couple of their apartments that were not occupied. They were beautiful, really nice, and well-maintained. They had very, very friendly staff that were very accommodating. I saw the menu. The Director was hoping to let me have some of the food, but I was late for my next appointment, so I had to leave. I saw the residents having fun in their crafts and the things they were doing. They also have staff that have been there for a long time. It was a facility that's well-maintained.

My mother has been in Elison Independent Living of Statesman Club for a year and nine months now. They're independent living apartments with dining facilities and a gym with third-party contracted assistance available. What I like best about it is the cleanliness, quality of food served, the general professionalism, and caring of the staff. What I like least about it is sketchy maintenance. If you have a leaking faucet, you might not have it fixed, and air-conditioning and heating in it, might not get fixed in what you would consider being in a timely manner. They've had some issues with facilities maintenance, and this is separate from custodial services. The maintenance aspect is the greatest weakness of that establishment. I've eaten a number of their meals. My mom sometimes will get a meal and won't eat it, and I will eat it. The variety is good, and the general quality of the food is good. I have not found any food item objectionable either in terms of flavor or overall preparation. I'm 66 and it's a place I could eat at with every meal, but I'd be bringing my own condiments because it is fairly bland. That's to be expected, given the nature of the people that are eating there. I see their activities on a corkboard in the elevator, and there's a good variety. I'm satisfied with that. There is a pool available, but my mom has not used it. Her mobility is highly limited, and with COVID and other things, the pool has been closed for some time. I think it's open now. I've seen their gym and it's fairly small, but the equipment is of good quality. They didn't cut corners, but they didn't try to replicate a commercial gym either. For the residents, it's fitting. Jigsaw puzzles are very popular there, and a lot of people come together to help put together these large puzzles. They have a very modest library, sort of like a gaming room, etc., but no pool tables or anything like that, maybe card or board games. The only issue is facilities maintenance and that keeps it from getting a five rating. Generally, the staff is not only courteous, but concerned, caring, and pleasant. They have some individuals who seem to be preoccupied with their perceptions of authority. We learn how to deal with them and we just move along. The activity schedule seems to be well put together and well scheduled, but I know nothing of the specific quality of any one activity because I've not witnessed it.

Elison Independent Living of Statesman Club is done very nicely. The atmosphere is very good. They serve you lunch in a special dining area with all these fancy dishes and all that kind of thing. They have a lot of activities, so you wouldn't be bored or anything. But when someone who's disabled is looking for a place to live independently, there are a lot of drawbacks. It's over $3500. Considering the price, it includes a lot of things. It includes your water, your sewer, and your garbage. It includes your basic cable and internet. The staff who accommodated me was very nice, very friendly, and very knowledgeable. They make people feel right at home. They have a little library, but what I saw were books that were on bookshelves, like on a cart or something. They give you a schedule of activities so that you know what activities are in for the whole month. It makes it easier for people to figure out what they want to do and when they want to do it. They have outings to Walmart and they have outings to Target and both in the same week. If you want to go to Target, you go to Target, and if you want to go to Walmart, you go to Walmart. If you want to go to both places, you can go to both places. The food was very good. It was certainly more restaurant-style. They have some people who know how to cook and enjoy cooking.

Elison Independent Living of Statesman Club had the best and largest feeling kind of floor plans. It also had an indoor pool (which was important for me if I were going to be moving in there) and a nice outside seating area, but it felt more like you're in town (the area being a little bit busier). Other than that, the place was very clean, well-maintained, and had nice gathering spaces. The dining room was really pretty. The staff was excellent. Valerie was the tour guide and she was more than helpful, really friendly, and nice.

I toured Elison Independent Living of Statesman Club. What I like best about the place is the fact that the public areas, like the reception area and the dining room, were lovely. But the rest of it is concerning, the hallways were dim, there were lights out in the hallway fixtures, and the flooring baseboards were not installed evenly. They were just haphazardly installed. The apartments were not updated. They were trying to update them a little bit as they could, but they were not updated when we went through. They need to improve their maintenance. The staff who gave the tour had to spend most of her time pointing out things that needed to be fixed. She shouldn't have had to do a maintenance check while she was walking with us. Their facilities seem very nice. I realize that they are highly rated by a lot of people and that people think that they're wonderful. But we were not impressed. They had a fitness room, an activity room, and a library. They had a little lake and they had patios, you can hold a barbecue out back on the patio. My husband pointed out that they price rooms just like hotels do. If your apartment's on the lake, it's going to be a higher lease per month. And we thought that it should be straight across the board.

I'm moving into Elison Independent Living of Statesman Club. I like the place itself. They have a beautiful pond, a fabulous restaurant, and a great hotel room. Everything about it was good. They have a swimming pool. The staff was wonderful. It seems like a grand hotel. It's very nice.

I took a tour and it was very pleasant and very informative. We were able to speak with a lady who let us see her accommodations as far as how she had it set up. The accommodations looked very good, the personnel that I met were very pleasant, and I thought they were competent and thought about the residents themselves. The lady that we spoke with was very helpful and explained everything, I thought she was very good. The place seemed very clean. We've just had a storm and they were already making accommodations to take care of any kind of damage. They were doing very well with their outside, and the inside was very clean.
