Ashbrook Village Assisted Living wasn't what I expected. It's clean and nice, and you have to supply your own furniture in the room. It's not what you would consider an apartment; it's just a bedroom with a sitting room and a microwave. The person who gave me the tour was the coordinator. She was nice enough but had no idea about things I asked about. She would say that she'll have to ask the boss and will get back to me. There's no smoking there and I smoke. It's a locked-down community, and you get a code to get in and out as long as you don't have dementia or anything. I was a little disappointed at the fact that even if I get the room, half my furniture will have to be in my sitting area. You're supposed to take your meals out in the dining area, and I can't do that. The only thing that was going on when I was there was they're having a staff meeting. When I toured, there was nobody anywhere, I saw rooms with a couple of people there, but nobody was out in the halls and no one was enjoying themselves or anything. The staff who gave me the tour wasn't someone who knew the policies for animals and things like that. They're kind of like a hospital wing that goes in a circle with a main desk, and that's it. They have a nice, little sitting area but no one was using it. There also was a nice inside courtyard but it looked a little overgrown, and no one was out there either. They also had a sun room where the staff was having a meeting. The rooms had walk-in closets and very nice showers with handle bars.

Everyone there at the community was very helpful and nice. Apartments are large and some have a courtyard view. I would suggest Ashbrook Village Assisted Living no anyone looking at a place for mom & dad.

The staff was wonderful and always takes care of the residents that live there. If you ask them a question, they will cheerfully give you the answer or get one for you. The place is spotless and everyone looks very happy.
