About This Community
We pride ourselves on providing a total living experience that is second to none. You will immediately feel at home once you meet our caring and qualified staff. We have adopted a resident-centered philosophy, which means that we do things on our residents’ terms, not ours. If they want to spend the day being active and involved, there are numerous activities and outings going on each day. Then again, if they want to spend the day relaxing on the porch reading a book on a warm spring day, they can. Every month we have Resident Counsel Meetings to ensure that our residents needs are being met...from the little detail and beyond!

My husband was a patient. He had a very grumpy nurse. Bed had a sharp bracket where side rail had been removed, resulting in a bad cut. Cut was not properly cared for and got cellulitis. I came in one evening and husband was not waking up. Talked to nurse, but he refused to check on him, and told me he had “other patients to tend to”. I found a nurse from another hall and she called ambulance. He was in septic shock from the cellulitis, which is very serious. ER also informed me the nursing home doctor had taken him off of a VERY important medication without even talking to the patient or family to understand why he took it!!! Also, my husband’s cell phone disappeared while he was there.
On the good side, they had done some remodeling and had a very nice physical therapy gym.
Disappointed of Facility
They are not good with administrating medications. The wrong medication or the wrong dosages are always being giving if not caught. The house doctor is unreliable to patients, he never comes into the facility when he is said to be. Leaving patients medical needs and or questions in limbo until he decides to come in. I will say they did start safety precautions for the Convid-19 quickly. They were very compassionate with families in regards to the effects this virus is having on their patients and their families. But when the facility had their first positive case of the Convid-19, they put their patients in harms way by putting them in the hallways where they were told to cover their faces with a wash clothe while they sprayed chemicals throughout the building instead of putting the patients in a safe place. This caused patients to have breathing and lung issues. Then they sent their patients to the hospital without even informing the hospital that these patients were coming from a facility with a known positive case of the Convid-19. Putting the hospitals and their staff at risk. The facility when informing their patients families their loved one was going to the hospital was given false information to why their loved one was even going to the hospital in the beginning. Even though the patients have tested negative for the virus they have kicked them out of the facility and would not allow them to return with no warning putting their families in a panic trying to find a new placement for their loved ones. Because of this virus it makes replacing loved ones into another facility nearly impossible because very few facilities are accepting patients. Not to mention when patients are testing negative for the virus hospitals are forcing the discharge putting these families in more of a panic and families are being forced to put their loved ones in facilities that are substandard facilities. Families are feeling like their backs are against the wall and have no choice but to accept any facility who will take their loved one. Families are being told from the hospital if they do not find a placement within 2 days they will be charged full price for the hospital room. This makes an already difficult time even harder and this should not be ok. Franciscan Villa is wronging their patients and their families...

My father went to Franciscan Villa for skilled nursing. His discharge papers from Saint Francis were for 12mg of decadron. Dr Luiscutty, the doctor at the facility, prescribed, and my father took, 36 mg of decadron. THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE. During his week at skilled nursing, he experienced a rapid decline. No one could give us an explanation as to why. No doctor checked on my father as to why he was declining. He went from a 1 person assist to a 5 person assist in a matter of days. At the advice of the medical team, we took my dad home to hospice where we found out he had been over-medicated. Unfortunately, my father never bounced back and suffered a horrible death where he literally drowned on the increased fluid caused by the over dose of steroid. No one at this facility wants to take any responsibility.

I had rehab at Franciscan Villa. I have nothing good to say about them. I would not go back there and I would not recommend it. The food and the medical staff was good, but the rehab people were the most horrible people, and one of them caused me to fall. The rooms and the hallways were all dark and gloomy. They need to have brighter colors in there. The rooms were nice and very clean, but very dingy color-wise. They don't have any activities at all. They go down in the main hall and play piano and sing, but that's about it. If I would rate them strictly for rehab, I'd give them a zero.

My uncle was at Franciscan Villa for rehab. His room was good sized and I like it. Therapy and staff were great. They played music, they had church, and they had bingo. The activities, the food and the dining room were good. It was a pretty clean facility.

Our Mother was in Franciscan Villa for over a year. The staff was very caring and helpful. The facility was clean and a pleasant atmosphere. We couldn't have gotten a better "home" for our momma (GG). Thank you to the staff for everything they did for her and for us...

I had a knew surgery and did not want to go into a skilled nursing place but I am glad I did! Because of the caring and helpful staff at this place I was able to return home and do some of the things I was worried I would no longer be able to do!

Poor staffing in evening amd weekends. Do not count on your loved one receiving needed therapies regularly .it is very difficult for patients to get help in the evenings. Rating D.

My mother spent nearly 3 weeks there following a knee surgery. The physical therapy and occupational therapy was exceptional. The remainder of the experience was poor to middle of the road. The staff was very unresponsive to pages, often taking at least 30 minutes to respond, and left my mother on the toilet for 20 minutes. After that she started geting out of bed and to the bathroom unsupervised. We complained to the director or nursing with no real change in staff behavior. They were friendly, just not responsive. The rooms were nice and comfortable with a large reclyner. The food however was some of the worst I have seen,. Inmates get better food than what they serve their guest. My mothers stomach was upset her entire tilme there and she vomited often after a meal. . Do your research. Insurance pays the same at any facility you go to. Visit them, see and talk to the patients, amd try the food (preferably an evening or weekend meal. Mom is scheduled for hip replacement in February and we will be choosing another facility.

The staff at Franciscan Villa is wonderful. My mom has been there for six months and she truly loves it, loves the staff. The facility is always clean and the residents get excellent care. Food there is nutritious and like home cooked meals. Residents are treated with kindness and respect.

I visited this facility approximately 8 months ago. I was very pleased with the way you had to have a code to enter the facility. I also was pleased with the way my friend was given care. He was a rather cantankerous patient, but the staff always treated him kindly and with respect. A rather large group of us came to visit him one day, and they even supplied us with a really nice sitting area to visit. The site was always very clean and did not seem to have the stomach turning smell of many nursing homes. Many different times we were there the staff was associating with the guests, and making everyone feel right at home. I was very impressed with the overall appeal of this community. The center had great physical and occupational therapists there on staff to help this patient get back into good health. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is in need of these services.
