Clay Gardens Place was a great facility. I don't have any negative thing to say about them. I think when it came to walking my mom's dog, the other place helped because they had an outside area with a lot of grass, some woods, and it was private. Clay Gardens had a lot of parking lot and it's on a pretty busy roadway. It's a great facility, has great administration, and it's very accommodating. There were really no issues. They were very close together. There were times that they take some of the residents outside the facility and enjoy some of the things that the community has to offer. They had activities that were very common. I'm not going to criticize anything that they do because they do a great job.
I don't have any complaints whatsoever with them. The staff was very good. They made you feel very comfortable. They were very welcoming and very friendly. My mother had the ability to sit outside, but it was more of an inner type area that was surrounded by the building. The only thing that I was uncomfortable with was when I stepped out, you're in a parking lot, you're close to a roadway that kind of stuff. It was both a business area and a residential area. I think their chef was impeccable, but I didn't eat a meal.

We toured the Clay Gardens Place Assisted Living Community for my mother and father-in-law. It was kind of in the middle. It's a little more expensive than the first one and was a little more newer looking. It just fell right in between the two place we've seen, and I'm sure the price falls right in between as well. It would be a good choice for somebody who couldn't afford the more expensive place we've toured.
They've got the right people in those jobs because they're very personable, very informative, and conversational. There was one negative, though. One of the rooms that they had available had no view, only a parking lot; so that was kind of a downer. It was just that room, I'm sure. We saw the rooms that had better views, but the one they had open that they could show us and was available, my father-in-law would not have wanted that view.

This place looks beautiful, and seems perfect. However, this is not the case. The staff is rude, and a mess. Some staff members should not be allowed to work with the elderly as they are nasty and intimidating to the residents. Long story short, we got my family member out of there and hear our many acquaintances may be following. Don't be fooled. Keep your loved ones out of there.

Clay Gardens Place's rooms were spacious, roomy, and clean. The place is a little smaller, but it was nice. The dining room was roomy, open, and had nice tablecloths on the table. The staff was super nice. They have a puppy, which was running around, and it was really cute. The building was nice, but it was a little bit more walking for residents since it wasn't a straight shot to the rooms. Instead you have to walk around. The people had stuff decorating the outside of their apartments. They have a nice garden area with a grill where people can come with their families.

Navigating care for an aging parent is super hard. My mom requires care that my sisters and I can’t provide in our homes, so 5 years ago we entered the senior care world. We were naive and clueless. Sadly, many assisted living/nursing home leaders put profit over people. Over time we are learning what questions to ask and how to navigate our way through Medicare, VA grants, care levels, etc.
In the midst of the messy, we have found incredibly amazing allies in the team at Clay Gardens Place. Of the various places mom has lived in Louisville and here, the Clay Gardens team has been the most caring, compassionate and considerate group of administrators, aids, nurses, food service personnel, etc. for my mom. In the almost 2 years she has lived there, I felt like they really cared for her, but to be honest, I’ve been hesitant to believe it because of experiencing insincerity at other places. But over the past few months we’ve had to navigate new challenges and I have been happily surprised by the personal attention they have given our family to make sure my mom is cared for respectfully and affordably. If she can’t be on Ramona Lane (the place she lived for 52 years), I’m glad she has this special place to call “home."

I used them for respite care for two weeks. My mom has been there before. The staff was very good, and they took care of her.
