My mother needed some extra help for a few weeks after returning home from the hospital and SOV sent a nurse to evaluate her and sent an aide twice a week to help her. The nurse was very helpful and did follow up visits. Although we had a few different aides, they all arrived on time and were professional and caring and seemed to relate to my mom, even with her dementia.

They sent 13 home health providers in 5 months when we requested that the number be limited to one. It took my sister and I requesting a certain worker three times before they finally started sending her consistently. Then when that worker got her state certification, she quit because they cut her hours. She trained two replacements who were supposed to be her permanent replacements, but the first day she was not our care provider, they sent another girl, not either of the two the worker trained. I also had trouble with the girls getting here on time, so I was often late for work as a result. Most of the girls they sent did not have a clue how to deal with someone with dementia, and usually spent they time they should have been doing light house work on their smart phones, rearranging their work schedules, because the person who did the scheduling got it wrong. In addition, I was not invited to a meeting when the plan was evaluated to see if it was working. I wanted to make changes to the plan, including the time that the girls arrived for duty, but because I was not invited to the meeting, I could not get my needed changes put in place. I was also told that they could not guarantee me that anyone would come for the shift, let alone that they would show up on time. I tried to speak with the director several times, but usually I was pushed aside by the person who answered the phone. When I called to tell them that we would not be needing their services any longer, five minutes later I received a call from the scheduler (who answers the phone) asking me what my complaints were. I told her, and she denied knowledge of these complaints even though she is the one I spoke with most times.
