Symphony at Mentor had a real strong perfume smell when you walked in, but it was clean. They were very friendly. Everybody was working, and they were all doing tasks. They would stop to say hello. They seemed really very welcoming. The facilities were a little on the old side. The couple rooms that I went into were clean, and everything was well put together.

Symphony at Mentor was quite nice and we thought that the care they provide would be good, but they had a progressive fee structure, which was concerning for us. Other than that, everything was lovely. The executive director was very helpful with her follow-up. I spoke to her two weeks ago and she followed up to determine what our decision had been. That appeared to be a good community for us. They were very helpful and informative. They tried to give you the information you needed to make a decision.

I like the openness of the Symphony at Titus. It's a smaller facility, but there's a high ratio of caregivers to residents, and the residents are assessed and put into neighborhoods that include other residents with the same stage of dementia or Alzheimer's. So, that allows them to be compatible with the other people that are living there. I like that very much. The place is immaculately clean and the staff is very friendly and approachable. We chose to put mom in a two-person suite where she shares a bathroom with another resident. The rooms are not huge, but they are very sufficient because they don't spend a lot of time in their rooms. They try to keep them engaged throughout the day. They want them out with the caregivers and engaging with the social workers and the activity director. They have rosary, communion services, prayer services, aromatherapy, and hair care. So, we're happy about that and they do outside visits to state parks and things like that, too (if people are well enough to do that). The grounds within the facility are very clean and very well kept.

Symphony at Mentor had a little sink out in the main living area with a mini fridge. The rooms were excellent, very nice, and everything looked very new. They didn't provide any furniture at all, TV, or telephone service, but they did provide a mini fridge. Everywhere I walked smelled wonderful and was very, very clean. The staff was excellent. I was with the director and the head of nursing. They could not have been more informative or helpful. They listened very carefully and asked very insightful questions. They really wanted to get to know my friend, so I'm very impressed with them. They discussed the activities (which are the same as everyone else). They specialize in cognitive issues. They really went above and beyond the other facilities as far as engagement, and that's stimulating these people with Alzheimer's and dementia. So I was very impressed with that. When I took her to tour, there was one person of color working there, and her being 80 years old and from the South, it worries me. I even asked them point blank, and they said that won't be a problem. It might not be, with the two I talked to, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a problem with the residents and some of the staff, because it was a very white facility. They showed me the menus. I was introduced to their head chef; she came and talked to us and was very nice. They said that if that day, they hate everything, that to the best of their ability they would make her something she would like. In terms of the activities, what I read looked very engaging, and stimulating, and fun.

My aunt is living at Symphony at Mentor. It's a wonderful place that I like very much. They take good care of her. The place is beautiful and smells wonderful, so we're very happy. She has been there for four months. There's a calendar every day for playing bingo, doing crafts, or nail polishing. They also have very nice meals served in a very lovely dining room, and family members are invited to participate if they'd like. All day long, they have beverages and snacks available for those who want it. The rooms are very neat, tidy and pretty. The hallways are always very clean and decorated. People at the desk are very nice, people are friendly, and the appearance of the place is very lovely. The price is comparable.

My husband went into Symphony at Mentor for a long weekend. I like that they took him just for three nights, whereas some places have a two-week minimum. I also like that they have daycare. They have people come in and do music. They also have exercises and crafts. They have friendly, nice rooms. I think my husband got good care there. I would use them again.

I didn’t care for Symphony at Mentor at all. For what I was looking for at the time, it wasn’t right for me. They had a lady there who was sitting out in the hallway screaming, yelling, and crying, and nobody was paying any attention to her, and I don’t know why. It really turned me off. The helpers weren’t being helpful and were busy talking. It didn’t seem like anybody was worried about this woman screaming. It also had a urine smell to it. They showed me the room, and thewoman didn’t seem very nice.
