Some really try, others do only what they.have to do. I have to tell the nurse he needs a shower (only had one). I have to ask someone to change his underwear. Therapy is a joke. Regret ever choosing this place.

My Mom was moved from a memory care facility because she didn’t adjust very well due to dementia. Not happy about the room especially the bed, It’s a hospital bed. Sharing with another person. Her clothes have to be labeled. As far as bringing in something like pictures or personal items not happening. Maybe It’s too much to take in at first

My brother has been in Windsor House at Champion since October. He chose the Windsor House because my sister who passed away 2 years ago was there at one time, and my brother liked it. And that's where he wanted to go. He needs skilled nursing. I can't go in his room, but I know he's in a semi-private where another resident is living with him. I don't know what his room is like. He said the food is OK. And when I'd call, they're OK. The only thing that I have problems with, which I know is not their fault, is because they don't have phones where my brother's at so when I call down at the desk, they have to take the portable down a lot of times. When you call the nurses' desk, they don't answer. They're probably understaffed, really busy, or whatever, but they seem to take good care of him. It's all 1-level, it's brick, it's taken care of, and the yard-work is also taken care of. They have nice chairs in the summer that you can sit outside underneath an awning.

My mom ended up in a long-term care unit here locally in the area, Windsor House at Champion. She has only been there for a short term, so I can't render too good of an opinion just yet. She moved in a couple of weeks ago. This was the only place that pretty much would take her that we could afford to put her at. It seems like she is getting good care but I have to call about everything, they don't call me about nothing. They need to have better communication with the family members that are involved. The staff members are OK. They're not superior, they're not poor, they're just OK. I have only been able to see my mom from her bedroom window. I have no idea what the rest of the facility looks like on the inside or where she goes or any kind of group or anything. Last night I was able to see her outside on the patio six feet apart with masks on. Her room is very small from what I can see, not a lot of space at all. I haven't met any of their staff; I just talked to people over the phone. The outside appearance of it is very neat and clean. I can't see anything that's being done above and beyond that we're paying for. Again she's only been there for a few weeks.

A family member has been a resident there almost two years, I’ll list the good and bad below. The good: In the summer time a lot of time and money is spent to make the outside look nice, good curb appeal. On the inside the floors are clean and always waxed very shiny. The bad: • They wax the floors in the evening about the time residents get their medication, so they don’t get them on time. • Clothes come up missing; I do the laundry they do not. • The residents have a call button to push when something is needed, mostly in the evening it is ignored a lot. I have waited 30 min. before someone comes. Many times they sit in wet pants. The weekends and holidays are the worst. The use to tell me they are short help, the state does not like that, it’s minimal help. • There is a big change over with the nurses Aids; the good ones go somewhere better. In the evening the Aids sit around the nurses station and watch TV, ignoring call light, I heard them say “I’ll pretend I don’t see that light I’m going home soon.” Many times they are outside having a cigarette • If your family member can’t move out of their room by themselves that is where they will be most of the day unless a family member takes them out. • The food is not very good same thing over and over. • Do not expect a lot of physical therapy, very limited. • If you take your love one outside, when it’s nice out, do not sit by the windows in the front by the main entrance. The windows are open so they can hear every word you say. • If you complain about Windsor House they will tell you it is a private facility and they can do whatever they want. • So if you want your love one at this place do not complain to the state because Windsor House will ban you from the property, seeing your family member, calling to see how your love one is doing. I could go on but why! There are many nursing homes out there, do not go by looks or how big they are. I will be moving my love one somewhere else, SOON. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

I loved Windsor House at Champion because the rooms had large closets and there was a big porch out front with rocking chairs. You can go sit outside, rock, read your book, do puzzles, or sit and watch everybody. They had a lot of outside activities and all kinds of activities inside, like bingo, painting, and exercising. They had little trips that you could go out on, like to go shopping. Everyone we saw was very good with the elderly. We got to talk to some of the people when we were there. They’d stop and talk to us, so the community was very friendly. The dining area was very nice. You can go down to the eating area or they’ll bring the food up to your room if you’re not feeling good. If you have your birthday and you want to have family there, they’ll give you a room to have your party. They have a living room with a fireplace in it where you can sit, and there are books galore, puzzles, and all kinds of stuff to do; you don’t have to stay in your room and watch TV. I’d recommend them.

Windsor House was clean, and the staff was very accommodating. I talked with the residents, and they all seemed to be happy and content. They had three different room sizes that were all very ample. It’s a more sociable place.

Windsor House was brand new and built in 2012. It’s a very nice facility. The rooms are spacious. There were three levels of rooms. The smallest one was very adequate, and the largest one was like a coliseum, made probably for a couple. There’s a lot of closet space, and you’ve got a refrigerator, microwave, and a TV. They’ve got two or three doctors that come on-site, as well as a podiatrist and a 24/7 LPN on staff. They have everything we thought we needed in a place to put my mother.

I was warmly welcomed by the Admissions Director, who gave me a tour of this location of Windsor House. The Windsor House locations are on the top of our list to refer our clients to because of the cleanliness, and the "at home" atmosphere. The residents can bring items from their previous home to make their new home comfortable. They also have an Alzheimer's wing, where the residents are able to walk & walk & walk if they choose to. This location is another great resource for rehabilitating & physical therapy after surgery or a fall, as well. The location is convenient to many surrounding communities, and residents of Warren.
